Same here. The “hatred” one felt was more born out of respect for greatness. If you want to consider yourself great then you have to beat the greatest opposition. McHale’s Celtics team of the 80′s was one of the yardsticks of that era.

My deepest condolences to the McHale family. As Theoden would say, “No parent should have to bury their child.”

I’ve always admired mchale’s knowledge of the game. He knows what he’s talking about and talks about it in a humble way. I really wish for healing of their hearts in this difficult time. Puts things in perspective.. Basketball money fame is all awesome but when you lose family.. Those things don’t mean much anymore. r.i.p ms mchale..
