Mark Cuban thrashes NBA sponsor Power Balance Bracelets

Nov 26, 2012, 3:04 PM EDT

Good for Cuban… even if this comes with an NBA fine. Which it shouldn’t. Whoever signed an NBA licensing agreement with this company should be the one getting fined.

That is Mavericks owner Mark Cuban who put a video on YouTube last week thrashing Power Balance, a bracelet that the makers claim helps balance and coordination. Well, they claim that until they get sued enough, then they own up to the truth. But the company is an official NBA sponsor.

A lot of NBA players wear it, but they are a superstitious lot. Plus, outside of the best headphones you may not want to take their advice on much.

But I’ve tried Power Balance, you say. I was at an expo and the salesman had me balance on one leg and with the bracelet he couldn’t knock me over, you say. Carnival trick, I say. (Seriously, follow that link, watch the video).

Good for Cuban.

“Plus, outside of the best headphones you may not want to take their advice on much.”

They would all say Beats. And they would be wrong. So take that, NBA player collective!

Y’know, Cuban’s pretty obnoxious, but I like the guy. He’s raw.

    And he’s right.

What’s up with the tilt? Too much haze and fuzziness.

The balance bracelet is right up there with the pet rock.

the difference is people knew they were getting a rock as joke or least most people did.with this garbage they are being told it has some actual benefit. how they have not been sued yet is amazing.

I actually saw the episode of Shark Tank he’s talking about. He ripped the guys.

Comparing these bands to magnets is ignorant. I started wearing magnets for my back with absolutely no idea or preconceptions about what they may or may not do. For me and millions of others they are effective. People can shove the whole placebo effect up their arse. Fifteen years of effectiveness isn’t placebo. It’s real. Wasn’t it just a hundred years ago or so that science was bleeding people with leeches?? Haha….sometimes people think they are soooo much smarter than they really are.

And this would be why products like Power Balance exists.

Actually, leeches are still used in some modern medical procedures: http://health.howstuffworks.com/medicine/modern-treatments/leeches-in-modern-medicine.htm

I wouldn’t take anyone’s advice on headphones who think Beats by Dr. Dre are good. That’s what they most players use and they are CRAP! Do you actually think these guys know what good headphones sound like?!?

  8. badintent - Nov 27, 2012 at 5:30 PM

NBA players have been know to put the bands on certain parts of their hoes’ bodies during orgies.Only for decorative purposes.

Of course cuban hates them, he’s not making any money off of them.
