Report: Lakers reach out to Mickael Pietrus

Nov 24, 2012, 3:23 PM EDT

Celtics guard Pietrus reacts after a three point shot in the second half of their NBA basketball game against the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta. Reuters

This likely isn’t going anywhere for the same reason it hasn’t gone anywhere with Indiana or San Antonio or a host of other NBA teams.

But a day after a report surfaced that the Lakers had some interest in Raja Bell if he reaches a buyout deal with Utah, comes this report about the Lakers having interest in Mickael Pietrus, via Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.

Pietrus has refused to accept the league minimum to join a team so far and there is no chance the Lakers and their league-high payroll can or would offer more than that. My guess is that his agent or people around Pietrus are leaking a lot of these offers trying to convince teams there is a lot of interest in him, driving up the price.

Good luck with that. He came off the bench in Boston last season and while you may remember a couple big shots in the playoffs he shot just 38.5 percent in the regular season and 32 percent in the postseason last year. The last time he had a PER of 13 (still below the league average) it was 2007. The Lakers have plenty of guys who can clank an 18-foot jumper, they don’t need another.

What is clear from all of this is that the Lakers are looking for options with their struggling team.

The problem isn’t the players. The problem is short Buss and the retreads he keeps putting on the sidelines.

You can’t add him. He was D12s teammate in Orlando. The last thing you want to do if you want to keep D12 is to add his former magic teammates.

Lakers suck! Maybe magic johnson will join the team. Bahahahaha!!!!

      You, sir, are a moron.

Next time you make a comment, idiot, try to come up with something constructive.

You of all people should remember how long it took for the Heat to start playing as a team. The Lakers don’t even have all the starters playing yet. We’ll get there. Only a fool would say the Lakers suck.

Bahaahaa, The lakers are freaking in panic mode.

After 90% of your fanbase ran their mouthes and had the the finals during preseason, we non lakers fans aren’t supposed to revel in it?!

    Deal with it, candya$$.

Babaabaa…says Pudhummer as his boyfriends take turns humping him from behind.

    • limonadamas - Nov 25, 2012 at 4:55 AM

Correction: 10% of the Laker fanbase was running their mouths and having the team in the finals during preseason. There are a handful of obnoxious fans in any fanbase, including yours. Stop your faux-righteous indignation and stick to your creepy obsession with Lakerluver.

after 11 games…isnt all this laker hater celebrating premature?

    • liljere24 - Nov 24, 2012 at 5:44 PM

But wasn’t all the Laker fans declaring they are a lock to win it all premature as well? Biggest Bandwagon fan base besides the Heat fans

      • dls612 - Nov 24, 2012 at 5:59 PM

agreed! talking so much crap this summer! nothing like a ass-kicking to make u humble ay Lakers fans?

      • raslabrown - Nov 24, 2012 at 6:34 PM

as a life long laker fan who braved the years of smush parker, chris mihm, and brian cook, i take exception to that statement.

      • mytthor - Nov 24, 2012 at 7:15 PM

Nobody except Lakerluver was saying they were a lock. I thought and still think they can get there, and they’ve removed the biggest stumbling block in Mike Brown. The top 2 point guards are hurt, we’ve basically got a whole new starting lineup with a whole new system. Only idiots think things happen overnight.

Don’t even give the ignorant “TROLL” a response. He is like a desperate child BEGGING for attention. Go watch nick jr or something!!!!!

  6. edwardsro - Nov 24, 2012 at 5:39 PM

I’m proud of my Lakers who are still looking to find the right pieces even with a 100 million dollar payroll. That is why I like Jim Buss

    • jimeejohnson - Nov 24, 2012 at 9:12 PM

That’s like saying I’m proud of my country even if we owe China the shirts on our backs!

  7. edwardemanuelson - Nov 24, 2012 at 5:51 PM

Believe me, I love seeing the Lakers struggle as much as the next unabashed Kobe hater. But the thing that sucks even more is knowing that they’ll eventually dupe some poor, struggling franchise for a superstar talent, give up pennies on the dollar in return, and probably go further in the playoffs than my Spurs because of it.

  8. conjecture101 - Nov 24, 2012 at 7:17 PM

Kurt Helin Its people like you who are ruining the sport of basketball. GM’S DONT CARE ABOUT PER. So the question is why should we as fans care? The answer is we shouldn’t. Mickael Pietrus was arguably the 2nd best player on the Orlando Magic’s championship team, he was unconscious from 3 and played tremendous defense on everyone from Pierce to Lebron. He was hurt last year and still was counted on by Doc Rivers to guard the opposing teams best player on a nightly basis. With all due respect Kurt, get over yourself.

  9. magicbucs - Nov 24, 2012 at 8:40 PM

@ron. Are you really this dumb? Pietrus was a teammate of Dwight’s with the magic. He always complained about not having the “talent” around him in Orlando. Why would you sign a former magic teammate of his. You already have earl clark and Chris duhon.

Do you understand?!? I’m actually trying to help your sorry team.

      Thanks but no thanks, buffoon.
