Lin is exceedingly popular in China. I know where he was born, I know the whole Taiwan/China thing, but I also talk to the people that took Lin to China this summer to help sell shoes. He’s not Yao popular, but he’s closer than you think. Also, Yao made the all-star team in years he didn’t and couldn’t play.

He won’t be voted in as a starter. Too many great guards ahead of him to even include him on the list. Coaches have more common sense, no way will they vote him in.

terribly written article.
1) Jeremy Lin getting votes from China and the Yao fanatics? Someone give this guy a diversity lesson, Yao is Chinese, Lin is Asian-American. Obviously the author cant differentiate between the two. China is obsessed with Yao because he’s actually from the country and is a product of their system, Jeremy Lin is not….and to think they are about them on similar levels is ridiculous.

2) Yao got on the all-star team cause he had solid seasons to back it up. Just like Vince Carter was voted on even when he was injured half the season. Dont even get me started on Vinsanity’s undeserved all star appearances. For Yao it had little to do with all the votes flooding from China. If you look at the breakdown of the numbers he still would’ve started if you took out all the votes from China.

3)Look at the depth at the guard position and center. Who were you gonna vote for if not Yao? Shaq may have taken some votes but who else? It was Yao by default. China or no China.

What do you want him to say? THat’s he’s gonna be a future euroleague player? He said he had a long way to go and he’s working towards it.

10.5 ppg, 2 steals per game, 6.6 assists per game and 4.5 rebounds per game ain’t that bad. all-star, no. but worse than a replacement player? no.

difference is, Jeremy’s already in the League and has hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of fans. methinks his chances of making it to the ASG are a little bit better than yours with those 3.

Jeremy Linept will be a comedian before he’s ever an All Star. Linept’s comment about being an All Star someday is one of the biggest sports jokes of all time, right behind Tiny Tim Teblow being an NFL All Star. Kurt reveals a sad truth that because fans vote for the All Star roster he may very well become an All Star although he’ll never deserve it by earning it with All Star play. Yeah China fans kept Yao Ming on the All Star team when he didn’t deserve the honor because he couldn’t even play during the regular season.
