Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love both take part in Minnesota walkthrough

There was a very encouraging sign at Minnesota Timberwolves practice Sunday:

Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio were both going through the 5-0 walkthrough part of the practice, tweets Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune. This was the first time for both of them.

It doesn’t mean their return is imminent — Love is not due back until the end of the month at the earliest, Rubio will be three weeks or so behind him most likely. But the fact they were on the court is a good sign.

Love broke his hand doing knuckle pushups just before the season started. Rubio is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered last season.

With those two Minnesota was considered a lock playoff team in the West, the question was could they keep their heads above water without them. So far, so good — their 5-4 record would have them in the playoffs if they started today. Of course, as we are less than 10 percent of the way through the season it doesn’t mean much, but they are on track.

And getting healthier.

I’m looking forward to the day your mommy kicks you out of the house and you can no longer afford internet access…..

It will be interesting to see how the rotations work when everyone gets healthy. Cunningham is earning his burn, as far as I am concerned, which would seem to make Williams the odd man out at PF. Considering how Shved is playing, the other gaurds are looking at some serious pine time when Rubio is healthy. And if we assume that Howard plays more towards his Dallas days than his Jazz days (I know, I’m glass-half-full type), who will get their minutes cut when Budinger is healthy again?

At the very least, we can’t complain about depth this year….

The bad news is that Roy is supposedly going under the knife this week for knee surgery

I cant wait for dwight howards introductory press conference as a timberwolf. And considering their contract situations, itll be a hell of a lot sooner than loves as a laker.
