Rajon Rondo rolled his ankle in the third quarter of Boston’s win over Utah and did not return. You know that’s not a good sign — there are few players tougher and willing to play through more than Rondo.

Doc Rivers isn’t sure if he can go for Boston Thursday against the Nets, reports A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com.

When asked if Rondo would play against the Nets, Rivers responded, “I have no idea. With sprained ankles, tomorrow you’ll know more.”

Rondo has really stepped into a leadership role and his having his best season as a pro — 14.3 points per game on 51 percent shooting with 12.5 assists per game. All of those are career highs. That’s not easy to replace.

Rondo is officially day-to-day. If he can’t go, expect Jason Terry to start at the point and Courtney Lee to come back into the starting lineup. Also it would mean more run for Leandro Barbosa, who played well against the Jazz.
