NBC SportsTalk: Could Rockets be doing more to accommodate Royce White?

There are no simple, easy answers with Royce White in Houston. He is a rookie frustrated with playing time — something a lot of rookies are — but his issues there should not be tied to the anxiety order that he is dealing with. Not completely, anyway. It’s messy.

Wednesday on Sports Talk on the NBC Sports Network, Erik Kuselias sat down with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated to discuss the situation.

Royce White is in the wrong line of work. Rockets were stupid for taking a chance. Live and learn.

His diva act is giving people with anxiety issues a bad name.

      Dumb comment

Diva act? Are you kidding me? Come on show some respect, show some dignity. He clearly has mental issues but he is a talented baller and if that’s his dream who are we to say he can’t do it. The kid was called a ‘Top 5 Talent’ by many scouts, so choosing him in the teens is not terrible from Houston

Showing respect and dignity has to go both ways. I initially felt bed for Royce White but then I read his bio. He’s a classless guy who bounced from school to school because nobody wanted to deal with the trouble he brought. Now he’s doing it to the Rockets. Mental issues or no he needs to be responsible to his employer.

dude, you know nothing about the game of basketball, im not saying im phil jackson ,

anyone who saw that game, which was pretty much the entire b-ball world, saw what we saw,

he did NOT let anthony davis get off the block , he looked like lebron out there, he can handle the ball and is a big dude,

2 plays , 2 plays !!! he got the rebound on the defensive end and went coast to coast dunking it all by himself,

and then kentucky called a timeout after the 2nd dunk , and he was telling the crowd “hes the best player in this gym”

ok well they ended up losing, it was close for a while be of royce white, also didnt help that all of kentuckys team were NBA draft picks,

hes a lil crazy yea, but your NBA or NFL or any team is NOT going to be made up of choir boys , james harrison LB for pittsburgh aint bad is he?

royce white needs time to grow up , mature, develop as a human being and man, all the skills , tools, and confidence (at times ) are all there ,

“his diva act gives people with anxiety issues a bad name”

just think about when you were around 20 years old, and then when you were 25 ?

lifes perspective is different aint it?

i know , i just turned 25, its crazy when looking back on things , but then to think EVERYONES MATURITY AND LIFE PERSPECTIVES CURVES ARE DIFFERENT. frontal lobe develop , etc….

    him, harden, lin, etc.

i like the moves houston has made, they are relevant for the first time since the T-Mac days

There are literally THOUSANDS of people who suffer from anxiety. And literally THOUSANDS of them seem to be able to get to work and function in life.

This guy hasn’t even played one game in the NBA, and he’s demanding some kind of special treatment, which the Rockets have been MORE than gracious in granting.

He says he needs “consistency” which is just a veiled attempt at playing time. He says he needs to go see HIS doctor in Minnesota, and doesn’t want to see the doctor in Houston, who is a leading specialist in his field.

Give me a break. Shut up and play, or shut up and go home. No one wants to hear from this kid anymore.

The guy was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and makes excises for everything. His Dad bales him out of everything.

      Dude pick up a dictionary

  4. eugenesaxe - Nov 15, 2012 at 2:00 AM

Since only Houston/White know exactly what’s going on, speculation on what they’re doing and if it’s “enough” is ridiculous. But if he’s skipping doctor’s appointments, as has been reported, he certainly isn’t helping himself.

I don’t know, but there’s simply no excuse for AWOL.

  6. pacific123ocean - Nov 15, 2012 at 5:09 PM

It all starts and ends with young Mr. White not getting any playing time. The team feels he has not earned any PT, while he feels that he has been given a chance to earn any PT.

There are several medications for flying anxiety. There is also the Mile High Club. There is also Honey Boo Boo video for distraction. But make sure this dude don’t watch “Flight “!!!

Royce White is a fraud . He played basketball at Iowa State and never complained about travel axiencity . Iowa State. is a big time school that travels on airlines all the time . If White claims to have had the problems in college and his condition was not disclosed the Rockets should sue to exonerate his ” guaranteed contract .” At this point it appears he’s scamming the team . It should be . No work No pay !

  9. omniusprime - Nov 16, 2012 at 8:51 AM

What a damned worthless little crybaby this Royce clown is. This little prima donna needs to find other work, something not so demanding of his pathetic spoiled brat who wants everything given to him. Hey Royce you’ve got to earn your playing time punk. Royce White should step into the shoes of someone whose life is truly tough, maybe then he’d understand just how cushy he has it in the NBA. Brett you do this little whiner a disservice writing such a garbage article trying to mollycoddle him, you should have been a stern taskmaster and told him to shut up the whining and start acting like an adult!
