NBA All-Star voting open — you can do it on twitter, Facebook

We’re still a long way from voting for president on twitter — but do you really want all your friends to see you tried to write in Donald Trump?

However, now you can now vote for NBA All-Stars on twitter — so your friends can all see you chose Kirk Hinrich to start at guard for the East. Then they will deny they know you.

NBA All-Star voting is now open. As in years past that can be done at NBA games on the old-school paper ballots, and online at NBA.com.

But voting via social media such as Facebook and twitter is new and starts this year, the league announced.

On twitter fans can vote for one player each day (voting is open for a couple months). All you have to do is tweet the player’s first and last name, along with hash tag #NBABALLOT.

The NBA has put together a customized Facebook application that allows you to vote for a full roster — three frontcourt and two backcourt players. Then if you want you can share your ballot with the people you couldn’t care less if you ever saw again from high school but you’re friends with on the site.

Voting runs through Jan 14. The All-Star Game is Feb. 17 in Orlando. There are 60 players from each conference on the ballot (on twitter you can vote easily for people not on the ballot). The fans will choose the five starters for each conference, the coaches choose the reserves.
