Kings center DeMarcus Cousins sat out Tuesday night as his team lost to the Trail Blazers, serving the second of a two-game suspension by the league because the league denied his appeal of the suspension, reports Sam Amick of the USA Today.
The original incident took place after the Kings loss to the Spurs last week, when Spurs broadcaster Sean Elliot criticized Cousins for not respecting Tim Duncan during the telecast. Cousins was told what Elliot said and came out of the locker room in his uniform to confront him “in a hostile manner,” according to the league. As the league doesn’t want players going after the media, Cousins got a two game suspension.
Cousins and the players union thought that the punishment didn’t fit the crime and appealed the suspension.
That got shot down. Cousins sat Tuesday night as his Kings got shot down by the Blazers and will return to the team Friday night. And it’s another step along the road to maturity for Cousins.
