ive never been a person to blatantly disrespect anyone,however when coach D’antoni got to new york he almost immediately earn the title Dick D’antoni. for numerous reasons. now im not saying that he won’t be good with the lakers,i just know he was a straight up dick during his time in NY.

This is such a stupid reply. First you claim D’Antoni is flexible because he is an NBA when doctorfootball points out the obvious situation with the Knicks. Then in the very next sentence you give another bad example of Mike Brown not being flexible. Give the guy a chance? Mike Brown did just as well as Phil Jackson with the same roster and he got 5 games. You trying to convince us or yourself that D’Antoni is any better?

They should just give the ball to Nash and let him run a Run&Shoot type of offense, making decisions based on what he’s given. This would lead to seven seconds or less sometimes, and twenty-four seconds or less other times.

One way or another they’re gonna hafta sacrifice either starters minutes, or wins–playoffs (homecourt) or legs (knees/back).

New York is a bad example; D’Antoni couldn’t just make some adjustments, the team was totally counter to his system. Kobe is great at moving without the ball and he’s got a brilliant point guard handling the ball when Nash gets back, Pau is good at creating spacing and moving without the ball – he’s no worse a 3 point shooter than Shawn Marion was.

I’m with those who say give him a chance. New York and LA are two different situations with different players and different skills.

He might not be the best coach in the NBA but he’s no idiot either

The players clearly want to win as well. If they’re smart they’ll take some direction and if he’s smart he will adapt to their skills and limitations.

Any coach who has studied the great coaches in any sport knows that the key is balancing your system with the abilities of your players

If you watched D’antoni in New York, you’d know that flexibility is not one of his strengths. Not saying he can’t or hasn’t changed, though he was anything but flexible with the Knicks.

Having a more efficient offense (less turnovers etc.) will lead to better defense. Though it’s early in the season, lakers averaging most TOs. And it’s not like d’antoni and his staff and all star players don’t know/forget defense. Would’ve preferred Jackson but nash, Howard/gasol pick n rolls are gonna be sickk

Why does everyone think a coach (in the NBA, no less) is only one-dimensional? I’m sure D’Antoni is flexible enough to find an offense that will play to his players’ strengths. All anyone has to do is look at what Brown tried (and failed) to do on offense to know that path is a dead end. Give the guy a chance to show what he can do.
