Dwyane Wade out Friday vs. Hawks due to cold

Nov 9, 2012, 6:06 PM EDT

Dwyade Wade AP

Apparently it is the cold and flu season already.

Dwyane Wade has a cold and will not play for the Heat Friday night against the Hawks, reports Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald (as well as other Heat writers). He is not even at the Phillips arena, according to reports.

No Wade means a start and a lot more run for Ray Allen, plus the ball in the hands of LeBron James more. Don’t you feel lucky now, Hawks?

The Heat’s next game is Sunday in Memphis.

Metta World Peace was in rare form today. He was on Sportsradio 610 in Houston — and let me say as a guy who has done a fair amount of radio spots with some quality hosts there, the buzz is all about Dwight Howard coming to the Rockets. If they are talking hoops, they are…

Phil Jackson is unquestionably one of the greatest coaches of all time, but he didn’t get there by placating people or considering the feelings of others — especially those with seniority or who were holding down a higher-level position within the organization. This is the time of year when teams and agents create smokescreens so thick, firefighters can’t get through them. So, approach any report like this with a healthy dose of skepticism.
