Warriors to shut down Andrew Bogut for at least 7-10 days

Andrew Bogut desperately wanted to get on the court and help his Golden State Warriors from the moment the season tipped off… and he there on the court opening night in the starting lineup.

Helping? That’s up for debate. (I mean, he’s still better than Andris Biedrins.)

But he clearly was not moving well following off-season ankle surgery and both he and the Warriors have agreed to shut him down for 7-10 days to see if his ankle can fully heal and work on strengthening it, coach Mark Jackson said, as reported by CSNBayArea.com.

Bogut is averaging 18.3 minutes, 6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game so far this season. He’s been pretty pedestrian, not the defensive force and passing big man we remember.

Bogut spoke to the media about this, as reported by Marcus Thompson of the San Jose Mercury News.

The Warriors have gotten off to a nice 3-2 start but have a rough stretch of the Lakers, Nuggets, Hawks, Timberwolves and Thunder their next five games. Those are some games they could have used a healthy Bogut in.

The question is after all his time off how much another week or two will help the ankle.
