Only by going to New York would LeBron have any pressure to win.

Another thing I would like to point out is look how everyone wants to make being a “big market” team is why it makes it attractive to big name free agents to flock to. Not true. Look at the Clippers, not only do they play in LA like the Lakers, hell, they even play in the same damn building. I can count on one hand how many times they’ve made the stinking playoffs in the last TWENTY years.

That had nothing to do with market, but having a cheap, penny-pinching owner. Going back to the Durant/OKC thing…you know that had to make him look at his longterm situation in Oklahoma through different hipster glasses. Losing Harden had to have tooken the wind out his sails which is probably why after tonight they just got above .500. I wouldn’t be surprised now to see him bounce after his contract is up to a city that is willing to pony up to keep their team special. Knicks? Nets? Lakers? Who knows…personally I wouldn’t bet on it, Durant seems to be cut from a different cloth. but you got to at least admit it will cross his mind when the time comes.

I hear you. But have you ever heard of the term, "it takes money to make money"? You put together a fun, exciting, talented team together and pay out big for the chance to win, win big, and win consistantly for years and years and build your brand up that way it all pays off in the long run. Becoming a household name brings in the money and makes up for everything.

Look at the Lakers and Kobe Bryant for example...$30 f***ing MILLION dollars for one season. Is it worth it to pay ANY player no matter how good they are that kind of money when the cap is less then half that? Apparently so since Mamba brings in more money off his presence alone then the $30 million he's being paid for 8 or so months worth of work.

I'm not trying to make this a "look at the ringzzzzzzz" argument but 5 championships in 7 finals apperences in 12 years is why spending big pays big. Look at that staggering television contract they just signed. You don't just get that kinda dough by being cheap. You got to win. And to win you got to pay.

While I can agree with a few of your thoughts on the positives of playing in Brooklyn, I don't think anyone can guarantee at this point that Prokorhov would be willing to blast his team salary way into the luxury tax to pay extensively for another premiere free agent in a couple of seasons. There's no current proof to either confirm or deny that prediction because the guy hasn't owned the team long enough to have a track record.

As a fan of any team, it's a great dream to think an owner would pay whatever it takes to put the most competitive team together. However, most businessmen that are rich enough to own an NBA team aren't quick to jump at excessively spending millions of lost dollars for any reason, even if the reason is Lebron James. They didn't make their billions by wasting millions.

You wanna know why the Brooklyn Nets are going to be attractive to free agents? New York? That's a start. Sweet arena? Ehh, it's nice but not really why players sign...it's because they have a billionaire owner who isn't scared and flips the bird to the luxary tax. He scoffs at being a repeat offender!

That's what's really going on. Look at my Lakers. Great ownership, always wiling to shell out for the talent and a chance at a ring. Look at the Thunder. That's as good as they are gonna get ladies and gentlemen. They already proven they will not do everything it takes to keep the best possible team together. It all falls on Durant and Westbrook and their devolopment now. It's live or die with them. They can not sign another talent better then Harden. Unless he's old and made his money already and trying to chase a championship. All OKC fans can now hope for is that the duo of KD and RW will be enough (and who knows, they might be) and to keep drafting gems (unlikely) and then trade them once they get good enough to some team with draft picks to draft more gems.

Look at all the money Prokorhov is shelling out forborderline all-star/very good starter talent. You think he's gonna fold if he already has 2 max players and his up and coming 3rd guy wants max too?F no! He'll pay, look at his roster now.

And at the end of the day, that's just what it's all about. Players just want to win, win big, live large, in a large city, and get paid LARGE while doing it. All while playing with other big name players to make things fun and easy. Lakers provide that. Miami provides that. I think if the pieces are right Mark Cuban up in Dallas would provide that. Now you can add Brooklyn to that list.

Hate what I say or not, this is your new (and old) reality.

Yep, thats the core for the next 4 years. They maybe able to bring in some more bad contracts, but it would only make things worse.

Nets are in a horrible situation, they will likely be stuck in mediocrity with this core, meaning 7th or 8th seed playoff team getting knocked out early, but never bad enough to be a lottery team.
