Garnett says Sullinger is like Perkins… without the defense

Kevin Garnett really likes Celtics rookie Jared Sullinger. The highest praise for him might be this — on a veteran, contending team Doc Rivers is giving him nearly 19 minutes a game.

Kevin Garnett tried to pay him a better compliment — comparing him to Kendrick Perkins on the Celtics official Web site.

“He reminds me a lot of Perk, man, when Perk was here,” Garnett said on Tuesday. “Obviously he’s not the defensive player that Perk was, but his IQ, moving the ball, being unselfish… he’s a great teammate.”

Perkins without the defense? Not a whole lot left there.

Perkins was efficient in his limited offensive opportunities, he played a smart game. Sullinger does that for a rookie. I get where KG was going with this.

But still, Perk without the defense, not the best compliment out there.

Garnett is trying to motivate the young man into playing better defense.

    Don’t question The Big Ticket.

I’d only question the Big Ticket if he was a scumbag who called opponents “cancer patients”.

Perkins turns the ball over 20% of the time that he touches it. His defense was all he had so I guess this is a huge diss on Sully.

Perkins is overrated as a defender. Being big and menacing doesn’t make him a good defender. How good of a defender was he when Blake came out of the heavens above and posterized him? He’s a big, slow dude who stands in the lane and hammers dudes. Not exactly Hakeem or Russell.
