Adam Morrison not retiring, looking at European options

At one point Adam Morrison said this was it: He would make the Trail Blazers roster or he would retire.

He didn’t make it, he was one of the final roster cuts in Portland.

But he not retiring, his agent told Sportando.

Brad Ames of Priority Sports, which represents Morrison, told Sportando this week that the former No. 3 overall pick is indeed open to joining another team in Europe in hopes of jump-starting his career.

“We are looking for a good Euroleague or Eurocup situation for (Adam),” Ames said…

“(At this point), Adam is open to whatever is the best move for his career, but he belongs in the NBA and that’s his goal,” Ames said. “If we don’t have anything (from Europe) over the next few weeks, Adam will consider the D-League for call-up opportunities.”

Stunning, a player says he’s going to retire and doesn’t. We couldn’t possibly have seen that coming. (Re-read that last sentence in your best sarcastic voice for full effect.)

Last season Morrison played in Serbia and Turkey and played well enough — shooting 50 percent — that the Clippers invited him to be on their Summer League team, and there he averaged 20 points a game. Portland gave him a camp invite, but it was always a long shot.

But at 28, turns out Morrison is not yet ready to walk away from the game.

Hopefully he’s taken the hint: He just isn’t NBA material. Nothing wrong with playing where you can hang.
