Former Bulls, ESPN NBA announcer Jim Durham dies at age 65

Jim Durham had one of the great voices ever to broadcast NBA games. He worked for the Chicago Bulls and Dallas Mavericks, most recently he was ESPN’s radio play-by-play announcer, having worked Boston at Miami on opening night.

He died Sunday at his home outside Houston at the age of 65.

He had been the Bulls broadcaster for 18 seasons, including the first years of Michael Jordan’s career (though his first titleDurham was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame on 2011 with the Curt Gowdy Media Award. He had at times worked for NBC, CBS and Turner during his legendary career.

Durham is survived by his wife, Helen, their three children, Patrick, Richard and Tracy and several grandchildren. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
