Hurricane Sandy could make some NBA travel difficult

The East Coast is hunkered down, trying to ride out hurricane Sandy and the wind and rain she is going to dump all over the area for a week.

Coincidentally, the NBA’s regular season starts this week, and a couple of games are potentially impacted. Look at the projected path of the storm and it is going to stall out near some NBA cities next week.

There are no issues Tuesday night’s openers, where the games are set for Miami, Cleveland and Los Angeles.

But on Wednesday, Halloween night, when the storm’s center is expected to be somewhere over Pennsylvania, games potentially could be impacted. The Philadelphia 76ers are scheduled to host the Denver Nuggets Wednesday night. Also potentially an issue but not likely as big of one because it is far enough north, Toronto is scheduled to host the Indiana Pacers.

Hopefully the storm will have dissipated enough by that time that there will be no changes.

Thursday night, the Nets are scheduled to host the Knicks in New York, no travel there but it should be plenty wet in New York by then.

By Friday we hope things have returned to normal. For the sake of our friends on the East Coast if nothing else.
