Kevin Love injured his elbow while sleeping. That’s his story.

Our early leader for strangest injury of training camp goes to…

Kevin Love. He sat out Minnesota’s Saturday preseason game because of a sore elbow he got from sleeping. Yes, sleeping in the wrong position. That’s his story and he’s sticking to it. From the Star Tribune.

Love didn’t bang it or hyperextend it while playing only the first quarter Friday in Indianapolis. No, he instead slept with his right arm extended off his bed all night Friday and when he awoke Saturday morning, he said he could barely lift a basketball.

“I couldn’t shoot it 10 feet,” he said.

Clearly Love needs to get an Al Jefferson bed.

This isn’t serious and Love is supposed to be back at practice this week and play the rest of the team’s preseason games.

Still, I would have paid good money to see him try to explain this to old-school coach Rick Adelman.

It happens, what you’ve never slept on your arm wrong and woken up and been in pain all day?

This is where you put a, “what was he really doing with his arm,” joke.

I tore the labrum in my shoulder due in part to sleeping on my shoulder in accword position. It’s fairly common. You have little control of this when you are in a deep sleep and the body doesn’t realize it’s in pain until you wake up.

Happened to me just the other night, woke up with a tight/sore tricep muscle after a night’s sleep. I work out, but this was on an off-day (kids, remember to lift weights only every other day, it’s the safe and effective way to do it). All right, I’m middle aged and not an NBA-class athlete, but I’m not in bad shape and it happens. And phaden27: yes, I’ve hurt myself doing that too ;>)
