Rick Smits earned all rookie first team honors and continued to average double-digit point totals in every year of his career, comparing Darko to Smits is a very, very long stretch of your imagination. Smits was never considered a joke and bust like Darko was and is no comparison, comparing Darko to the “dunking Dutchman” is a big reach.

DARKO MAKING A BIG IMPACT
Darko Milicic was outstanding while chipping in two points, nine rebounds, four blocks, and three assists. We know he can use his size on the defensive end, where he’s been swatting everything that comes his way during this overseas trip. But offensively he’s shown an ability to create for teammates in the high post off screens and pick-and-rolls.

(It may not mean squat as it is preseason but just keep on giving him some confidence by letting him find his way to the team’s flow and he may be able to contribute a little bit here and there.It is an 82 game schedule.He needs to keep on getting better.The Celtics are playing for the the postseason anyway and they have time to make things happen for all the nw players including Darko.)

Darkos numbers compare favorably to Jordan Hills. But Hill is an all world back up according to you…..you’re pathetic.
Everytime you post, you find a new way to show your ignorance.
Darko will fill the Ryan Hollins role on this team. You don’t even know your own team, you have no business analyzing a different one.
You won’t have to worry about the Celtics, L.A. will not be coming out of the west.

Doc’s a great coach but he’s not a miracle worker, ph53IQ. He can’t turn chicken chit into chicken salad. Darko can get 10 mins on a non-contending team. But on a contender 10 mins is too much. He should get 10 mins a WEEK, not a game. If the C’s meet my LAKERS in the Finals maybe Darko can get 10 mins a game then. I’m sure Dwight would love to see that.

10 minutes a game, says paulhargis53IQ. That’s about 8.5 minutes too many. At this point of his career Darko’s very close to being “human victory cigar” material. Boston has younger, hungrier players they should give 10 mins a gm to. Darko has proven at every stop he’s only in the NBA for the lifestyle and the paycheck.

Mr.Kuelin is right when he wrote that Darko wouldn’t be the first guy to find success with the Celtics where he had failed elsewhere. And they need a legitimate center in the worst way.

Darko is just on a 1 year minimum so it is a low risk & hopefully high reward for both the Celtics.
Yeah we’ll see how Coach Rivers patience will last.I am curious to see what KG can do with Darko & if he will be patient with him.Darko is still young at 27 and he has an upside there somewhere.The team and Darko just needs to keep on working and hope that he has an Avery Bradley moment and just break out.If this guy breaks out who knows.I remember when Rik Smits broke out.He was a so servieceable for the Pacers as a former #2 pick.IF it doesn’t work, then bye bye Darko, so what?
He had his chance to do something special for this special team.It’s up to him.Gain & find some confidence big guy.

I don’t think any of us Celtics fans think Darko is tipping point on the season.

Darko will fill a role. A role of about 10 minutes a game.
