Different players (and people in general) respond to different types of criticism. Some guys need a hand on the shoulder and a few words spoken in private, some guys need to be chewed out publicly. Chalmers is obviously one of the latter.

LBJ is obviously the unquestioned leader on this team, and if ‘Rio needs a talking to, he’ll get it. And let’s not imply that everybody on the Heat chews out Chalmers. It’s pretty much Wade (who was doing it before LBJ arrived) and James, plus Spoelstra of course. And the reason they are hard on him is that he has ice water in his veins and the talent to improve as a player.

I’ve seen Peyton Manning and Tom Brady yell at their teammates, many of whom are as old as them.

Nobody criticizes them because they’re champions. Meanwhile, when Jay Cutler does it, it’s a national news story.

These are competitive men. When I play basketball with amateurs, guys yell at each other. I don’t know when men yelling at men became “disgraceful,” but it’s definitely recent.

And don’t let the Hanes underwear commercials fool you – Michael Jordan (Greatest Champion of All Time) was famously harsh on his teammates.

But by all means – pretend LeBron yelling at Chalmers after he dribbles the ball out of bounds is something controversial.

That is not leadership that is called arrogance. The way he, Wade, and Bosh yelled at Mario on national tv was pathetic.

“He messes up sometimes. But he comes through for me, though.”

Something about this line doesn’t sound right when you are talking about another grown a$$ man. To be an effective leader, Lebron has to do so without berating someone. Especially in front of other peers. And because he corrects someone doesn’t mean everyone else gets to pile on.

Lebron will probably do alright because winning cures all ills, right? Well, it’s up to Chalmers on how much of this he is willing to take.
