If I was the owner of a team whose only big-name star was a chronic flopper, I’d write angry e-mails too. If you (as a player, fan, owner, etc.) really enjoy the game for what it is, how can you not support this rule? I get the feeling Cuban is just venting over Jason Kidd, Terry, Deron Williams, and Lamar Odom.

I prefer the gradual approach for now.

If they do a good job this year identifying “consensus flops,” meaning everybody agrees it was a flop, then I’d support increasing the punishment.

However, if they try to rule on 50-50 calls, or specifically avoid penalizing star players even when they flop, I don’t favor increasing the punishments since the “judges” are unfair.

Agree with the first part about unintended consequences. The refs might simply ignore the flopping and let the league deal with it later.

Disagree about guys falling to their asses on charges. Legitimate charges do happen where guys fall that way and whether a guy falls to the floor or not should not be the barometer of a charge vs. a flop.
