Well, guess what? We just had a conversation about whether or not those guys are the best all time…. so that puts them in the CONVERSATION!
I basically agree with all your comparisons and I do acknowledge that kobe and steve are not in their primes. But check it out man, they’re only a handful of players better at each of the three positions!

Just cuz its fun, I’ll hash it out a little more.
For PG’s – outside of magic, how many MVPs do those guys have? Big O’s got one… well Steve’s got two. Let’s say Steve goes on to win a championship or two… I say that puts him right behind Magic pretty solidly.
For C’s – ya that’s a great list of center’s, many of the best to ever play the game. I think Russell and Wilt are such legends, they’re untouchable. I might even throw Kareem in there, whatever. But DR, the deam and shaq each have one MVP and they only have 1 DPOY between all of them… let say DH goes on to win an MVP and a couple of championships to go along with his absurd number of DPOYs I’d say that’s reasonable), then he deserves to be right up there with those guys. So yeah maybe dwights got a lot to prove still, but man he’s got a shot at it and joining the lakers is really gonna help his cause. and NO Big Man can even say they had a shot at it since shaq.
And ya, anyone who can’t say Kobe is a #2 sg, you crazy!

Kobe is still the best player unfortunately for LA. Howard is quite limited offensively. He still struggles in the post, does not have a jump shot and is terrible at the line. Let’s hope his defense makes up for some of that but if you are a Lakers fan you better hope he is not the best player on that team.

Nash – if you’re only looking at the offensive end, then absolutely, he’s a top 3 PG of all time, but if you factor defense equally, I can easily name 4 guys ahead of Nash (Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Oscar Robertson, Isiah Thomas), and if you want to go way back, throw in Bob Cousy.

Kobe – consensus top-2 SG of all time, with Lakers fans putting him #1, everybody else putting him #2, so that’s one

Dwight – Howard is not in the conversation for best center of all time, yet. Look up the accomplishments of guys like Kareem, Russell, Olajuwon, Wilt, Robinson, and Shaq. Howard is VERY far away from those guys. He’s not even in the conversation for top 5 center of all time yet, much less #1.

So that’s really 1 guy in the conversation for best of all time at his position (Kobe).

And you have to acknowledge only 1 starter is probably still in his prime (Dwight).

As a Laker fan, I think this comment is ridiculous.

There’s no way that Nash or Howard are close to the “best of all time at their position” discussion. The Magic had a better center than him 15 years ago, better by leaps and bounds! Just in the 90s you had: The Dream, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Mourning…lol.

And Nash? I like him offensively, but in my opinion, to be considered one of the best of all time, you gotta be able to play some sort of defense. I also think him winning to MVP awards playing only offense was bat shit crazy, but that’s just me.
