if he was not ready to play ball because of what he went thru then he should not have played. he was just using that as an excuse as he was ok enough to play for the lakers but all of sudden unable to cope when got sent to the mavs? not buying it fo a min.

I’m not that mad at either. But if he’s really that upset, and wants to make it up to cuban, and more importantly, the Dallas fans, give the salary back, or at least a chunk of it. Against the CBA? Get Cuban to make a lottery in Dallas, and the rewards are the money you want to give back.

I don’t see how you can say “I’m sorry”, but “I’m keeping the 9 million you gave me”. But honestly, this is just another reason why players should not get guranteed contracts. If you want to gurantee them in case of injury, fine, no problem. If you pay a player to play, he shows up but doesn’t want to play (like Odom), the team should have the option to let him walk and not pay him

Have you ever lost a loved one, had a loved one fall ill, or been involved in an accident where you killed a kid? Likely not judging by your comment. In addition to his cousin dying and his father being seriously ill, he watched a 15 year old die right in front of him.

Crappy things happen to people in life, and everyone copes with traumatic events differently. Sometimes after a traumatic event you can’t focus on your job because quite honestly your job just isn’t the most important thing in life. So instead of judging him, try to think how well you’d be able to focus on your job after similar events. I know first hand after a friend was killed in front of me I had a very tough time focusing on anything, let alone my job, for quite some time.

so the fact he feels bad about how he played last year year makes it ok for him to have made millions for doing nothing and helping to ruin the mavs season?he didn’t want to be traded despite the fact he told the lakers to trade him makes it ok to not care about the team he was traded to? the fact he says he feels bad does not absolve himself for his performance and make mavs fans forget and forget about it.
