Bynum would be just fine playing and participating. It’s a bruise. But the team is holding him out to ensure that the procedure works to the best of it’s abilities. Why risk ruining a preventative procedure.

Have the procedure done close to the start of the season. Sounds like Shaq was the doctor. Got hurt on the job, get fixed on the job, summer is vacation time. I think Bynum went on vacation right after the Lakers were out of the playoffs.

Would not be surprised if the 76ers missed the playoffs. This trade was not that good for them. He will leave after the season’s end.

Better now then in April. Although it has to concern Sixer fans that the man hasn’t even started training camp and he’s already having injury problems. He’s had them his whole career and hopefully this is minor but the fact is, all of these injuries add up and take their toll on a player of his size. I like Bynum but it’s going to stink for Sixer fans having to worry about this guy every time he goes down on a charge or block in the paint!

Look on the bright side. There are teams in the League that doesnt have a legitimate ‘key player’. Now, Philly can join the ranks of all the other ‘good’ teams, whose fortunes are tied to the health of their star.

Let’s see how you feel when he doesnt play all that much , or, is ineffective.

Id take a bruised knee over a bad back any day.

this was a preventative procedure that was meant to make him more healthy. According to ESPN he is sitting out to “maximize the effect of the procedure.” you’ve got a guy with a bad lower back and your feeling like you dodged a bullet because you traded away a guy who got a procedure to prevent further injury…. that seems backward.

Him and his creaky knees and maturity is Philly’s problem now.

That’s far, but you have to consider that Bynum has a history of injuries and he’s only 24. It’s hard to be optimistic.

i remember making a commment here to lakers fans about how if (God forbid) bynbum suffered an injury, that laker nation would feel they dodged a bullet because th eman was traded. in no way was it a shot at bynum, but he honest truth. and right now, i cant seem to shake the “phew, glad this injury isn’t my concern right now” .. sad for the philly faithful however, and i jus want to see bynum carry a team, as i feel he needs it and has earned it through his improvements over the years.
