Danny Ainge has on SEVERAL occasions offered Ray Ray up 2 other teams, my question, if this were u, and u felt like a piece of meat, wy in God’s name wld u remain “loyal” to that team? Especially when ur basically in da twilight of ur career and a championship contender comes knocking rather loudly at ur door?

And when he gets hot – he’s murder. And he has a habit of getting hot when the pressure is no – that’s why they signed him. That and also to piss off the Celtics.

When people use them around a word, it can indicate a different context for that word

i.e. – calling Ray Allen a “defector” is akin to referring to those who have never encountered quotation marks as “experts” in reading comprehension.

To me, it seems like Ray wanted to feel wanted by the organization more so than anything else. He felt used by Ainge and welcomed by Riley and money wasn’t the issue. While I’m sure he is sad to leave Pierce and Garnett behind, he is excited to be part of the spread offense run by Lebron and Wade

@j0esixpack, I’m not sure what all the thumbs down on your comment are coming from, you are more level headed on this one than most. I would say that if Terry is an upgrade over Allen at this stage, it is a marginal one at best. And Avery Bradley isn’t going to be confused with an all-star anytime soon. Still, in the context of the Celtics organization and the role he needs to play, he is valuable- more valuable than he would be elsewhere. Similarly, Ray Allen, in the context of the role Miami needs him to play (off the bench and end game, floor spacing shooter) is more valuable to the Heat than he would have been to Boston. When taken in totality, the Allen departure and Terry addition looks like a scenario where both teams got better.

I think this does show how strongly Garnett and Pierce feel about camaraderie and a team concept, which Allen obviously does not feel as strongly about, but that’s his call.

The bottom line is that the Celtics upgraded over Allen with Bradley and Terry, and if the Celtics use Allen’s “defection” to rally themselves for 2012 so be it.
