Quote of the Day: Paul Pierce expects Rondo to take the shot

Sep 30, 2012, 1:00 PM EDT

Rajon Rondo shot 45 percent from the floor last year. NBA.com reports that Rondo shot 39 percent from 16-24 feet. He was better, but inconsistent. This is a major challenge to his game and another indication that this year could have a huge impact on how Rondo’s career is viewed going forward, and what the reflection of his championship-contention years showed. So, you know, no pressure.

same pressure as last yr where he came through like he knew it was his time.

even as a Lakers fan I respect Rondo. I think people rag on him for his jumper too much. His jumper is still solid, and he makes it work.

I’m done talking about Rondo’s mid-range jumper. His FT % on the other hand…

I like Rondo, but if they’re really giving him the ball in late game situations and expecting him to take the shot, let him take the shot from 16 feet out or foul him. More likely than not, he’ll miss in either case.

He doesn’t need his jumper to become as good as Steve Nash or Chris Paul, but at the very least, he needs a free throw percentage of above 80%
