I think that Donte should have waited on a NBA career until his skills were more developed and he had finished college. He wasted his valuable development time with the Kings who called him back from D League too soon. Then, they wouldn’t even re-new his one-year contract after wasting his valuable years. Hope was on the horizon for him with the tentative Nets contract and then the ankle fracture. I don’t think that another NBA team will be willing to take a chance on Donte based upon his short and poor playing record AND a history of an ankle injury. Perhaps he can find a team in Europe willing to sign him. It’s too back for Donte, he has several kids and a wife to support. If it wasn’t for buzzard luck, he’d have no luck at all.

I think the bigger setback for Donte is that he’s not a good player. He was consistently the 9th or 10th best player on one of the worst teams in the league.

Good thing for Brooklyn they only promised him a non-guaranteed contract. For them, he could have been the next Damion James.
