Well, Moore, Kareem sure wasn’t a “pain” to Lakers fans while he was winning titles and raining skyhooks down on the opponent. Hell, even Magic used a “baby skyhook” (Chick Hearn) to whip the Celtics in their own house. Kareem might not have been the best interview, but I find it hard to feel sorry for reporters who don’t get the predictable quotes they expect.

Way past time for Kareem to be properly honored with a statue at Staples. I certainly hope that it shows him doing his patented sky hook shot, that would be awesome. I can’t wait to see it unveiled. Thanks Kareem for all the great memories and hopefully you can teach Howard how to sky hook.

IDK how it took so long to put up a statue of the NBA’s most prolific scorer up but it’s about damn time. Just wish he wouldn’t have made such a stink about it, it’s a bad look.

Kareem was my very first favorite NBA player. Wierd story: I remember when I was a 5 year old kid I used to eat Cream of Wheat soley because I thought it was Kareem of Wheat, even though I didn’t very much care for the taste of it.

PS- Hey Matt, don’t forget about the Chick Hearn statue too! (That’s my favorite one!)

It is going to get crowded out there in a few years when Kobe retires. Maybe Wilt will get one too! Then when Griffin retires along with CP3.

As much as I like the Lakers and Kareem, I don’t think Kareem should be there. The sports figures who super excel in their sport and are also a huge asset to their communities should both be criteria for a statue. Kareen does not qualify in both categories. Kobe doesn’t really either.

One guy who does, who was a great player, loved by his teammates, spent most of his career in LA and was a huge asset supporting people in the LA community is Luc Robitaille. If you are giving one to Kareem, then Luc definitely deserves to be there too.

Maybe if bitter little sports writers just reported and kept there personal opinions to themselves they could have mini statues. If you saw him play you would know that he deserves accolades for his game. I know the press just wants there black men to dunk and be quiet, but Kareem was and is his own man
