For all the bitter hate heaped upon the Lakers for their success by authors and fans alike, no one seems to realize how much the L.A. organization has helped the league as a whole. Byron Scott is just one example. Pat Riley is another. Just how successful would the Heat franchise be at this point without Riles? Jerry West certainly helped the Grizzly while he was there (winning Exec of the Year in ’04 while the coach he hired, Hubie Brown, got coach of the year) and now he’s an advisor to the Warriors.

Good stuff, Cavs. Byron Scott is a good, steadying influence and great teacher for all the youth the Cavs are stockpiling. They need a coach like him right now. And he’s a great guy too.
