Funny lakerluver said MOST AMERICANS. You’re really referring to Black and White Americans, but you guys are becoming minorities pretty soon. I don’t belong to any of the groups that drive any ratings, but I do respect both sports since I’ve played them. It might not be your sport of choice, but bashing another sport because you dislike it is lame. I can’t stand watching baseball or any kind of baseball talk, but I do respect their skill sets and some level of athleticism that’s associated with the game.

Hahaha espn ratings for world cup are low, but univision world cup rating will demolish nba finals ratings in the US.. Every spanish speaking household watches the world cup. Last superbowl 200 millon watched world wide,, world cup final something like 950 million,, do the math!!

@r-something-z TV ratings are actually a perfect indicator of the popularity of a sport in a given country. I don’t know one person who actually follows soccer regularly. Real football is king in the USA.

NBA finals 16.2 million average over the 5 games, world cup USA vs England 14.5 million… Take into Consideration one is the finals and the soccer match was in the stage group, not as lob sided as you might think. The world cup final was roughly 24.5 million in the U.S.hard to compare the two since a game final wi usually draw a bigger audience than a seven game series. Seems soccer is actually pretty popular MLS may not be but soccer itself is.

So because it’s not as popular as the NBA it must be a bunch of trashy hooligans that watch it right? If you don’t like Soccer, that’s fine, but what is the point in ripping it just because of that reason alone? You can say it’s too slow (which is a load of crap, watch La Liga sometime) or they don’t score enough(because watching a ball go through a hoop 100 times a game is sooo compelling), but most of the people that rip it do so having never watched it at any point in time. Rip it and drop TV ratings on me. How impressive.
