Harden says he was not crossed-over against Nigeria. You decide.

Aug 3, 2012, 4:33 PM EDT

During the often otherwise almost unwatchable Team USA demolition of Nigeria on Thursday, this happened:

James Harden got crossed. Broken ankles. Call it whatever you want.

Except Harden wouldn’t call it that at all. Trey Kirby of The Basketball Jones monitors players twitter accounts (so you don’t have to) and he found this exchange between Harden and the Knicks J.R. Smith.

Um, okay, James. Look, I’ll grant Harden that he slipped a little, but he slipped because he got crossed.

Watch the video. Decide for yourself.

I think you know my vote.

Funny thing about that is…he was definitely crossed

Helin, slow day in the NBA huh? Really? This is what you just wasted precious space writing? First off, who cares if he got crossed over? Second, “otherwise unwatchable”? What about that was unwatchable? If you actually had any knowledge or history of the NBA you would know that you just watched one of the most efficient shooting exhibitions ever in a sanctioned game since the invent of the shot clock. Five records fell and, most notably, Stephon Marbury’s useless name was REMOVED from a US Olympic record. That alone was worth sitting through a rerun of that game!

This is actually pretty funny and interesting in comparison to stories like “Ricky Rubio recovering” (ohrly?) and you’re just butthurt.

Hung him up like Jesus, you know, the guy from the story books for adults.

  7. passerby23 - Aug 3, 2012 at 5:54 PM

Crossed! Not easy to admit you got crossed up by a guy on a team you just beat by 83.

  8. kw93 - Aug 3, 2012 at 5:54 PM

Cris crossed will make you… Jump Jump!

  9. findthetruth90 - Aug 3, 2012 at 6:14 PM

The only reason he didn’t hit the floor is because his beard caught hit. Didn’t get crossed haha!! Give me a break Mr.Harden

  10. dls612 - Aug 3, 2012 at 6:16 PM

Lol!! James Brown reincarnated!! Doing the split! Dude crossed him hella good!

  11. ibreathefootball - Aug 3, 2012 at 7:06 PM

He was pushed by Tony Skinn’s left hand, and then almost broke his ankles flying backwards. Not a cross-over, more of a foul on Nigeria than anything. What do you think the betting odds were for USA -82.5? Nigeria has got to be embarrassed!

  12. tigershark49 - Aug 3, 2012 at 11:16 PM

Harden should acknowledge the guy’s good move. It happens to everybody at least once. CROSSED!

  13. scoregasmic - Aug 4, 2012 at 12:33 AM

    Harden…you just got crossed

  14. brewdogg - Aug 4, 2012 at 1:50 AM

Man, that was flat-out EMBARASSING!! No wonder the man doesn’t want to own up to it. Let him be, you know he is going to forever have that image pasted in the front of his recall.
