Ricky Rubio is spending his summer trying to recover from his ACL and LCL injury. He’d rather be adding to Spain’s spectacular passing at the London Olympics, but he’s not ready. (Seriously, watch a Spain game. That is a great passing team, just beautiful ball movement.)

So how is that recovery going? Here is what Rubio himself tweeted:

Check out w the doctor went great! My knee its good even better than he expected! ‪#hardwork

Adding to that, here is what T-Wolves beat writer Jerry Zgoda of the Star-Tribune wrote after speaking with GM David Kahn:

“He will be with us in training camp, at practice, he’ll hopefully be able to do some non-contact things that month (October), but I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves,” Kahn said. “It’s very important for him and for our team that he starts the season traveling, practicing, that he’s here. He won’t be that far away, although we’re not going to put any dates certain on anything. He’ll be everywhere we are.”

This is a situation where you don’t want to rush him and have him aggravate anything. Take your time. With him back and if Brandon Roy can give them anything this may be a playoff team. But they need to think long term here. It’s a long season.
