Bingo you and me were right, no way in heck someone with bone on bone in his knees could last and you should have seen how many thumbs down I got for saying the obvious. Like the player but one doesn’t need to be a doctor to see an 82 game schedule would have Roy back out for good about 5-10 games in.

It’s statements like this that substantiate all the criticism that this blog gets:

“If Minnesota gets the old Roy, they go from being a potential playoff team in the West to a team you want to watch. They are not ready to challenge the Thunder yet, but they would move within a couple steps of that goal.”

Are you kidding me? If they got the old Roy (I don’t think this will happen but that’s not really relevant in an “if” statement) the T-Wolves would be getting one of the best guards in the league. At his peak he was a top 3 shooting guard in the league and with D-Wade’s injury woes, Roy at his peak is better. You’re telling us that one of the top 3 power forwards, a top 3 shooting guard and one of the most dynamic point guards in the league (who is still rapidly improving) would still be a couple steps away from challenging the Thunder? What delusional world do you live in? That team would be neck and neck with the Thunder!

Again, I really don’t think Roy will return to that level though he can still be effective on the court. But really Helin, if you’re going to delve into a hypothetical argument, at least give those players some credit.

A lot of big ‘IFs” for Minnesota. If Roy’s knees hold up and he can contribute 15/game, if Rubio recovers and continues to develop, if Kirilenko plays like the force he’s playing like in London, and if the team gels, they have enough talent to make the playoffs.

I’m not as confident about Roy’s knees, but this is a good team.

Damn…. this is sweet. I read the same sports articles as a bunch of Doctors. Nobody knows whether his knees will hold up or not, but who cares. He still has a passion for the game, he’s one of the best ambassadors of the game, and wants to make a run at getting back at it. Good luck to him, I hope he succeeds.

The best they an hope for is a couple minutes a game, any more and he will be out of the league before the season ends. Guys with deteriorating knees with no cartilage can’t play a whole NBA season, let alone a playoff run.
