When did the Warriors not become the Warriors anymore? All this talk of making the playoffs ignores that they always underachieve. Curry and Bogut are still very injury prone, Lee plays average D at best and Barnes is unproven at this level (though admittedly very talented). Like it was mentioned above, they'll need to get around 50 wins for the 8th spot, I see this team maybe getting to 45 if everything falls their way, but more likely in the 39-42 range. Not enough.

Carl was a beast when he was here in houston. The warriors are putting together a nice little roster. They have a chance at the 7th or 8th seed

Kurt,

You don't think Golden State will start Barnes? Maybe not to begin the season but with Jefferson on an obvious decline and Barnes possessing so much talent, I expect Barnes to take over the starting gig in no time.

The Warriors have quietly built a pretty deep and talented roster; Not Nuggets deep, but a great 9-10 man rotation to work around. Also with all the moves made by teams int eh west to improve (Minnesota, My Hornets, the Jazz to some extent, etc) the west for me will definetly be the most interesting of the two conferences in terms of quality of competition and competitiveness to reach the playoffs; Personally now i can't wait for this seaosn to begin and see how things work out...

On paper and if they can stay reasonably healthy, the Warriors might make the playoffs. Then again, in the Western Conference, unless they win 50 games then that probably will not happen.

Contend, yes they need more. Get a 6-8 playoff seed? They will start Curry, Thompson, Richard Jefferson, David Lee and Andrew Bogut with Jarrett Jack, Rush, Harrison Barnes and Landry behind them. If they stay healthy, that's a playoff roster.
