Surprise, surprise…Boston fans dogging yet another player for not taking less from the Puh Cs than he’s worth on the open market. Guess what Puh C fans…no one wants to take less to play for a franchise that has won just one measly tltle in the last quarter century.

you all are forgetting Brandon Bass. IMO it was more important that the Celtics re-signed him than Ray Allen. Because he and Pierce are so versatile. Bass can play the 3 position too when the ‘C’s go big lineup. He’s quick enough. and he has a nice mid range jumper. Pierce can also swing down and play 2 guard and bomb 3′s. PP started his career as 2 guard. And could finish it there. They don’t need Pietrus at all. He plays small in big moments. Bass plays big in those moments.

a) Because they are stacked with wingmen.
b) Pietrus’ knees are a question mark.
c) They want to save the biannual exception for someone who might become available either through trade or the waiver wire at the trade deadline.

I think the C’s are playing it smart. He’s worth bringing back for the veteran’s minimum and they might be able to pick up a significantly better player down the road for the biannual exception.

NY, LA, Brooklyn and Miami can also only offer the veteran’s minimum. Dallas also has a logjam of wing players. He can get paid more elsewhere, but I don’t think it’s going to be with a contender.

The translation of his agent’s words is: “Listen, you have the biannual exception. He’s worth that. Pay the man.” I think if all the C’s had was the veteran’s minimum, his tune might be different.

With the biannual left, why not use it on Pietrus? They have Green and Pierce at SF but who else to defend SFs? Bringing him back makes a lot of sense unless they can find an upgrade to Collins with the biannual.

They still have the option w/the biannual exception, and if he really had a lot of offers, he would have signed already. I think he ends up getting the biannual from the C’s.

Guess that means he signs with Brooklyn, NY, LA Lakers, Clippers. Miami or Dallas then, since its been the same 7 teams signing every veteran of 4-5 years plus of senority this off-season (Boston included in that list of 7 teams).
