the main problem is getting equal value, unless the heat are willing to part with Bosh & Lebron its not going to happen.so Orlando has to decide if they are gonna a be rebuilding team or not the longer they hold out from dealing the more that becomes likely

The word ‘circus’ is an understatement when it comes to this trade; and it’s pretty unprofessional behavior on both sides.
I wouldn’t sleep on Dallas to pick up Howard (although it might be a tough sell without DWill); but the Mavs have put some nice pieces to entice Howard.

It has nothing to do with Dwight’s list of teams he’d extend with, it’s about what teams want him and can afford him (cap room) and have pieces to make it work. There aren’t many that have the cap room to sign him to a long term deal once his contract expires after next season and/or have the pieces to make it work. It’s highly unlikely that any new teams will jump into the mix.

I wonder if Orlando might be willing to take the chance on him sticking around all season knowing they can make him the best offer compared to any other team out there in free agency. That’s a risky gamble and Howard is hoping they don’t try it. Any team he gets traded to would have the best chance at signing him due to this scenario, but if they don’t trade him by the deadline he then gets screwed and will have to decide between $20+ million dollars on an extra year or less money with another team.

The big question is, would Orlando go through this circus another season on this gamble, knowing Howard will likely be disgusted with them for not trading him? If they can’t get a good deal, maybe they’ll take that risk. I don’t know.

Laker fan here whose stomach turns with the thought of this injured ego-maniac becoming a Laker. I think he would be a cancer in the locker room and it would be the absolute worse move the Laker’s could make. Bynum may have knee and maturity issues but he is a beast when healthy and motivated.

See, this is what I’ve said weeks ago. I said that I would be surprised if Howard is traded at all. I’ve said that he will play for the Magic, fake an injury if things aren’t going his way and be a big-time free agent and make the most money he can. Howard is blocking the trades. He doesn’t want it.

Why? Because he can make more money in free agency. He’s getting older and he got hurt with a bad back. That really makes you take stock and start you thinking that your time in the league is short. Therefore, you set yourself up for the rest of your life by signing a huge contract in free agency. See Howard’s just as concerned about his back as any GM should be.

This really isn’t about Dwight Howard being whiny or anything like that. It isn’t about championships. It’s about Dwight Howard’s future outside of the NBA this go around.

There just making some rumors till August 5th when the rookies are signed and can be traded they would like to get what ever they can but if that doesn’t happen they will be sending Howard to Houston.

It might not work out THAT bad. Only contenders will have a legitimate shot at re-signing Howard if they traded for him today anyway so someone could conceivably make a slightly better offer down the stretch thinking even if he bolts it was worth the gamble if he gave them a better chance at a title heading into the playoffs. Also the idea of Howard getting booed both at home in Orlando & on the road every game until trade deadline would provide some compensation for the annoyance he has put NBA fans through the last year & a half.

To be perfectly honest I’m surprised there are still teams interested in adding him to their locker room given his behavior this past year. I can’t recall any professional athlete that didn’t commit a crime or do something awful that has destroyed their image quite as bad as “Superman” has.

The only way holding Dwight improves offers is if they believe the Nets would put every asset they have into getting him. That would be above what’s currently being offered, and if it can be credibly threatened, it could improve other teams’ offers too. But I have to think the Lakers aren’t going to leave Bynum in limbo forever. I’f I’m him, I try to ink an extension five months and twenty-nine days before the trade deadline, whatever day in late August that happens to be. That’ll drop the price, and it probably would make the Nets feel like they don’t have to put everything they have into Dwight either. I have to say, I am getting a sort of perverse enjoyment out of Orlando’s management thinking they could outlast Dwight on this for the past year or so.
