If you need a laugh at any point in the next 72 hours, the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship takes place this weekend in Lake Tahoe (you can see it on NBC and the NBC Sports Network) and Charles Barkley will be there. Barkley’s golf swing is always good for a laugh.

He swung by the set of NBC Sports Talk and talked NBA happenings with my man Erik Kuselias. Charles talks Jeremy Lin, the Dream Team vs. 2012 (do you really need to guess where he falls on that debate?) and more.

There’s no better way to start out your Friday than listening to Charles Barkley… ok, that’s not true. But this and some coffee is the best we can offer. Enjoy.

I thought teams could only amnesty one player…? If so…Knicks already used theirs on Billups last season….more proof Barkley never has a clue about what he’s talking about.

The Chuck Wagon: always honest, funny and informative. The best. I’d like to see him call games.

Thank you Chuckster! I said the exact same thing in a previous post, verbatim. Lebron, Kobe and KD nobody else would even get off…

“The actually could have amnestied [Lin's] last year”

    um … no

While I don’t question his ability to analyze the on court game, it seams his understanding of the CBA rules is no better than Kurt Helin’s.

footnote: He is wrong for two reasons. First, only contacts signed under the old CBA (before Dec. 2011) can be amnestied. Second, each team gets only 1 amnesty and the Knicks used theirs on Billups. What they can do is cut him and stretch the cap hit over 3 seasons, easing the tax burden, but that is a lot different than amnestying the contract.

Big Chuck has never been an X’s and O’s guy. BUT he was a phenomenal player, which I respect more than listening to some 5′ 4″ coaches son, that never played but claims to know everything ” in theory “.

That philosophy carries over in all walks of life.

Should you listen to and respect the ideals of a business owner that has started a small business and grows it to a successful corporation. OR should you take all of your information from a professor, that has never owned a business, been an employee of the university his entire career but can explain all the business strategies “in theory”.

Because of his ability to evaluate talent and give the hard core facts is why people listen when “the round mound of rebound” talks. So regardless of his imperfect use of the kings language, the guy knows bball.
