Blazers waive Dan Gadzuric, so you can pick him up

Jul 19, 2012, 2:33 PM EDT

Is this it for Dan Gadzuric, or is one more team going to give him a slot at the end of the bench as a backup?

The Blazers are not willing to do that, they waived him on Thursday. Which was to be expected, he was thrown in the Raymond Felton trade as filler and was never going to stick.

The former UCLA big man has a decade in the NBA but spent much of last season in the D-League and played just two games for the Knicks last year. He has played 44 total games over the last three seasons in the NBA.

It’s not inconceivable that some team will give him another shot at the end of the bench for the veteran minimum, or more likely might some team give him a shot mid season after an injury this their bench.

Maybe. Or maybe this is it.

I can only see anyone picking him up as a free agent mid season, as injury cover. That being said, the 76ers signed KWAME BROWN, so throw common sense and logic out the window

I’m a Knicks fan and I actually like the Felton acquisition, but this goes to show just how much the Blazers cared for having Felton on their team.

The Knicks may feel the same way after next season.

Ya blazers hated felton but he was a UFA so this was all stuff for free really for the blazers.

I was thinking: He managed to hang around the NBA for a decade as a fringe player. He probably made quite a nice living. Like being a career NFL backup QB who sticks as a #2, an NBA backup with a decade career is a pretty sweet gig.

I figured he probably made a cool $10-12 mil, thinking he made minimums as a 2nd round pick for a few years and then had a nice little bump.

Then I go to his basketball-reference page… $37 million! WTH? He was making over $7 million at some point. Based on the salary breakdown it looks like he got a $36/6 deal. Sure enough, he had his career year ( 7/8 averages in 81 starts!) in his 3rd season contract year. And never did anything at all again.

Funny how this article is about Dan Gadzuric and every comment is about Raymond Felton. This should let the writer know “Who gives a flock about a Dan Gadzuric?” Nobody!!!!! Not even Portland. Please do not take up space writing about Dan Gadzuric ever again.

skinsfanwill: That’s funny. The Knicks must’ve cared about him to have him on their team last season. They even got rid of Bill Walker, who I felt was a much better player, to make room for this stiff,
