Are you really compairing 2 completely different players? This is like comparing Jordan and KAJ. The 2 players play entirely different types of basketabll.

Also, if you look at the end of the season (home stretch for NY) Melo’s numbers were great in all areas, including D, APG, RPG.

Carmello doesnt even belong in the same sentence as lebron buddy! All melo does well is score. He doesn’t make anyone around him better and doesn’t like defense.

The thing is the Knicks only had to pay him 5 mil each of the first 2 years. They could of taken him off the books in the 3rd year if it hadn’t worked out. Not saying Lin is gonna bring them to a championship, just feel he is the same or could be better than Felton. Felton showed nothing last year.

You just contradicted yourself though. If Lin isn’t a good player after two years you can’t trade him unless you take on a bad contract or contracts which would still leave the Knicks in luxury tax hell.

boy a lot of ppl sure hate Melo i somehow get the feeling that it really has nothing to do with b-ball, how can a guy be a ballhog if hes second on the team in assist. all ive seen since his arrival is improvement in all aspects of his game granted hes no Bernard King but every year the guy is going to a new level so hate on and keep up with human stupidity

First, that was a different offense for Felton in NYC. Second, he was terrible last year in Portland, out of shape and lazy. Depends on which Felton you get.

Let’s also not forget that a TV deal can be negotiated overseas to exclusively show Rockets games… that’s quite a bit of money too.

As a Knicks fan, I couldnt agree more. If not Lin, then someone else’s contracts will put us in the tax. It’s not Lin’s fault Melo and Stat are getting paid 23+ million each that year.

I think this was about ego more than anything. Dolan didn’t like Lin redoing the deal with Houston, and Lin only do that because he didn’t like Dolan not negotiating with him directly (told Lin to go out and get an offer and that NYK would let market dictate his price). Dolan didn’t want to get taken advantage of, so he let him go. I personally thought he was just scaring Lin for redoing the offer sheet with HOU, but I was clearly wrong

I hope Dolan realizes that if Lin becomes a star, and Felton struggles, that will be the last straw. Knicks fans put up with 10 years of absolute joke basketball and decision making, and still supported our team strongly. But I this backfires that’s it, boycott of Knicks until Dolan sells.

Of course because that makes sense in all ways which is why James Dolan didn’t do it…There are times that I want to just go to MSG and drop my jerseys on the steps and give it up because it’s so frustrating having a total idiot for an owner, and what’s worse is that he knows it and just doesn’t care…We had something going with the team and then he bids against himself to get Carmelo, gutting an up and coming roster for a one-way player who needs the ball in his hands every possession…We get something going with Lin and, after all the money thrown at other idiots who were past their prime or just bad to begin with, he lets Lin walk (WITHOUT EVEN GETTING ANY COMPENSATION)…So now we get to look forward to our All Star roster circa 2003 getting on the floor, winning maybe 45 games if we’re lucky, and going down in the first round AGAIN…But this time we’ll win two games and they’ll say it’s a step in the right direction

Stop IT! Couple of points to make.
A) If Mario Chalmers SHUT YOU DOWN! You ARE NOT IT!
B) Lin is not a cash cow… MSG tickets sales was already sold out the last 2years. So ticket sales are there. So people say they can corner the Asian market. Again Wrong! Even if the Knicks do get a strong Following in China; ALL THE TEAMS, Again ALL 30 teams in the league spit the money! The Knicks only capitalize on direct online merchandise sales and at MSG! Smart move NY! Lin can only impact teams with marginal ticket sales who need the remaining seats to be filled with the Asian community and J Linsanity Fans.

As a Heat fan, I love watching Knicks management at work. Lin is a cash cow and they let it walk out the door. This is the best situation for Lin though. Not enough ball in MSG with the black hole (Melo) occupying all the time. Woodson probably wouldn’t have given Lin the same freedom that D’Antoni did and that would have made him look like an average or below average point guard. He’s better off somewhere else. Seems like Knicks management and players are mad at the kid because he outwitted them in business and on the basketball court.

Here’s what u Lin guys are missing. You think that his 25 game preview is his baseline performance ei, the floor of his actual talents. When in all actuality its closer to his ceiling. I like Lin, thanks for giving this team what they actually needed last year. But to pay a player as a top 5 PG, when its still not proven hes a top 5 PG is assinine and doesnt serve as a basketball move. Lin is with a team in a basic rebuilding situation where he has to be the star and the #1 scoring option when Martin isnt on the floor. Ill be interested to see how he does. Congrats on him getting his payday, wish him luck, but u cant tie up those type of dollars to a guy that has less than 1/3 of a season under his belt…too much can go wrong

To those that believe Lin knowingly allowed the Houston offer to be restructured so the Knicks could not meet it, that Lin is being disloyal, etc…

Did you really think that Lin could walk back into that toxic locker room with Anthony and Smith bad mouthing his offer? These two even went as far as to throw out there that a lot of dudes would not be happy with his contract.

He is better off playing on a team that doesn’t have a Diva or jealous knuckleheads like these two.

I wish him luck, and Houston is going to have a marketing and ticket sales bonanza coming their way like they haven’t seen in awhile. And Lin will not have to play knowing that Carmelo and his porn mustache will be snickering when he makes his rookie mistakes.

I can’t believe Felton is an upgrade over Lin. Felton struggled after leaving D’Antoni’s system for the past 2 years. Now people expect that he can come back to run a brand new Mike Woodson offense and mesh really well with Carmelo Anthony? I don’t think so.

You’re going to get hate from Lin fanatics but you’re right. I’m a Knicks fan but you have to make that decision there I think that if Raymond comes back fit it is a better decision. I’d choose Lin over Felt because of youth and potential but for that money you just can’t
