If the Lakers ruin their team by trading Drew for Mr Indecisive who clearly doesnt want to win, Laker fans should surround Staples and have a witch hunt for Jim Buss although Mitch would end up taking the heat. Dwight Howard should commit to the Lakers: a new start on the west is best coast might be just the thing to bring Howard his long awaited title. Howard’s got more potential than that punk Andrew Bynum, who even though younger than Howard is definitely no Superman; more like wee wee man! I’m a rare breed of fan that likes the Celitcs and the Lakers, and if the Celtics had any chance to get Howard I’d say go for it! Howard is in the top ten in many NBA categories, and is in the prime of his career NOW. He’s wasting away in Peyton Place, I mean Orlando. Wish they all could be west of I-5. Go west young man. Leave the east coast behind, and especially central Florida, no offense to citrus intended.

I just don’t see Dwight being happy in L.A. Then again, I don’t see him being happy anywhere, or until he plays for a team that officially changes their name to “Dwight Howard and the Backups.” L.A has way too much shooting from other sources for Dwight to ever get the touches he demands.

I agree. I would love to see ORL leave and then DH realize he can’t get both the money and the team he wants. As a UFA who wants max money, he would have to sign on a bad team with lots of cap space. Then he is worse off than he is in ORL. Hah!

What may have changed is that now Houston can’t participate because they are getting Lin and (maybe) Osik. The Cavs have dropped out, the Nets can’t trade Lopez until January 15. So maybe ORL is starting to feel like they are going to have trouble unloading him before the start of the season, and are more motivated to make a deal with any remaining team that has assets.

That is what they say. But who are “they”? The people close to him? None of them would put their name out there. Until you hear it from D12 himself that he will not resign with LA then no one really knows.

I’ll tell you what we do know though. D12 had his surgery in Southern California and has been out here ever since. Hennigan had to fly out here to talk to D12. Yet there are some out there that will tell you he does not like LA. Go figure.

Those are facts. People close to him saying things without putting their names to it is just rumor.

Here are more facts. The Amway Center was opened on Sept 29, 2010. They had a difficult time getting the financing for this arena too. You think they want to have it not be sold out because the team is young and “developing”? Maybe. But the owner of the Magic did not get rich making too many financial mistakes.

Kupchak has known all along that he had the biggest chip (i.e. best hand) in any trade with Orlando. Andrew Bynum is a player that is pretty close to D12 in capabilities. He has size, skill, and potential.

If you are Rob Hennigan what do you want your legacy to be? How are you going to compete for the playoffs and fill up that arena?

It is pretty obvious to me. Hennigan is just trying to get more than just Bynum but in the end that is pretty dang good even if it was straight up.

Lots of things have changes.

The Nets, whom was Howard’s sole team, can no longer take him.
The Rockets are no longer in the running.
The Magic now have a new GM whom has talked to Howard and has not changed his mind.
Howard has said he just wants to leave now, which most would assume means he is willing to sign.

The only hold up would be Bynum. But telling a 24 year old with 2 NBA championship rings that you are going to give him a max contract for multiple years will change his mind.

D12 has proven one thing through this whole soap opera: he is not terribly bright. I don’t care what anyone says, a lineup consisting of Nash, Kobe, MWP, Pau and D12 is a serious title contender. There would not be a team in the league that could match up with them. As a matter of fact, the LAKERS without D12 are still a title contender as well. Why doesn’t Howard realize that this is set up perfectly for him?. Kobe and Nash play 2-3 more years and retire. Paul’s deal is up in 3 years. The LAKERS would be left with D12 and millions to spend on another elite free agent or two. D12 would only be 28 or 29, and more than likely a two time champion. Los Angeles would be his city for the rest of his career and he could be the focal point of the franchise. It makes perfect sense that he would “demand” a trade to the the LAKERS. Obviously,at this point he hasn’t. That doesn’t mean the deal won’t happen. I’m still hopeful.
