Cant you understand the resentment of a guy who chose to put his contract issues ahead of the team, DURING THE PLAYOFFS?!! He went Hollywood on his team mates at the wrong time.

JR is the crazy one: not too much sponsorship money to lose. But you can be sure that there are several players on that team that feel the same way.

If JR Smith wants to make things better and help create a post-racial world, maybe he should have shown up for more practices on the Chinese team he agreed to play on, instead of going on shopping trips. Maybe he could have respected the culture more and reached out to fans to foster cross culture support. Or, you know, he could do none of those things and then blame the Asian guy for accepting a contract that he would have signed in a second. I mean, going back to your point, how does JR Smith’s conduct or comments help address this perceived problem?

What they both said is 100% accurate. Most players would be upset that Lin gets a huge deal after 35 games ONLY and it is a ridiculous contract to offer him $14M in year 3 (especially since the tax and contract in that 3rd year would have the Knicks pay close to $30M).

He will almost certainly be an amnesty casualty after that second year.

His contract is back-loaded which means regardless of what he makes in the first two years, he’s going to make almost 15 million in the third year which is a ridiculous amount for a turnover machine like Lin. That’s in addition to Carmelo and Amare’s contract really getting bad by then too.

If you were starting a team anyone who would consider paying Lin 15 million a year any given year at this point in his career is crazy. Not to mention when you have Raymond Felton and Jason Kidd on the roster.
