Video: Lakers fans welcome Steve Nash to L.A. with a beer. Between two cars. At full speed.

Jul 14, 2012, 2:30 PM EDT

This is just nuts. In every way. Steve Nash had to have concerns about how the Lakers fans would react to him after he’s beaten them so many times throughout the years including two eliminations in the first-round in back-to-back years and a tight Western Conference Finals in 2009.

But he feels better after Lakers fans decided to welcome him. With a beer. By handing it to him from one car to another. At full speed. On a highway.

That sound you hear is Nash’s agent, Mitch Kupchak, and the NBA having a heart attack.

It’s also pretty awesome.

That video did not live up to the description’s hype. Not even close.

Yeah. I thought he was going to be standing as two cars raced by on either side of him, like the flag girl in those ’50s car races on a cliff.

*2010 WCF. The Lakers faced the Nuggets in the 2009 Western Conference, that’s when Melo was viewed how Durant is viewed now. I remember like yesterday the media dubbed Carmelo the next George Gervin, now KD has took his place as the league’s elite scorer. But Melo is like George Gervin, he plays no defense.

Please don’t insult the Iceman by comparing him to Melon!

      • camnellum12 - Jul 21, 2012 at 4:20 PM

Too bad Gervin never gave defensive effort

Fans only hate a player when they aren’t on their team. Lol

I can see the future for LA Basketball~ when people speak of LA Basketball they’ll be talking about the LA Clippers, not the LA Lakers. Yeah, I know you don’t believe me, but wait and see.

    • ihavecomplaints - Jul 15, 2012 at 2:18 PM

That was supposed to happen right away, this past season, and it didn’t. Now Blake is hurt again. L.A. will NEVER be a Clippers town. Drop it.

    • surefooted1 - Jul 15, 2012 at 3:13 PM

That’ll happen the day after NY stops belonging to the Knicks/Yankees/Giants/Rangers.

  11. pop562 - Jul 14, 2012 at 7:43 PM

How many championship has the clippers won ever since they became a team in LA…there are leaker fans all over the world but clipper fans are only in LA.

  12. pop562 - Jul 14, 2012 at 7:44 PM

    Laker fans… Correction.

  13. canehouse - Jul 15, 2012 at 9:48 AM

wonder what the laker fan would have offered up if Chris Paul had been permitted to play for LA? Magnums of Perrier-Jouet?
