I think that Orlando would LOVE to trade Dwight Howard, but Dwight gave notice that he will only re-sign with the Nets. That’s it!

That hamstrings the negotiations, because he gave the Nets all kinds of power. So I look at it as Dwight’s fault that he’s not gone. At least the Magic can get one more year out of the deal before he leaves.

Oh, and if the Nets signed Brook Lopez to a Max contract and win with him, then why would they spend more money to get Howard? It will make no sense.

If I were Howard and I wanted to leave to play somewhere big-time, I would have told the Lakers that he would sign a multi-year deal with them. Or Houston. Or Atlanta. But what GM would mortgage the future on a guy that can’t play a complete season to play half a year and move on?

I don’t even think Charlotte would do that.

Dwight would almost certainly leave next year. Why waste a future building block on MKG for one, probably non-playoff year with Dwight Howard?

People don’t understand, Orlando is getting screwed b/c Howard won’t agree to sign with anyone but the Nets. So no teams in their right minds will give Orlando much for one season of a disgruntled Howared.

Orlando can always do the Lopez trade at the deadline. Or, they can ship him off to Houston later for a 1rst rounder.

Why would you not trade him? The Nets offered first rounders, plus some players and were going to take on bad salary.

Howard should just finish out the contract and head to Brooklyn at the end of the season. He told Orlando he was leaving, he gave them an opportunity to trade him, its Orlandos loss now for not getting anything. Sure they might get a couple second rounders at the trading deadline if a team seems to be in contention, but Howard is heading to NYC. The guy wants to live in the Big Apple, he is a young ,famous , rich man. Where would you like to be a star Orlando or NYC? Dwight will wait this out patiently and NYC will make everyone fall in love with him again.

There is no loyalty in sports, so he doesn’t owe Orlando anything, he made them money, he made them popular again. When you have personal success for a team everyone thinks you should be loyal, but when you have a dropoff everyone thinks you should be on the first plane out of town. Why not be loyal to a guy until his career is over or through his entire contract. Why can a team trade a player at anytime, but when a player wants a change they are seen as evil people?

It’s so great to see how an immature, money-hungry, premadonna truly handles himself. Now all the asinine LeBron haters can sit back and really criticize a player who deserves it. So much crap for 2 years because of a stupid “decision”. Howard holds multiple teams hostage, tries to dictate all the terms and even gets his coach and G.M. fired. Can everyone finally come to an agreement that Howard is the biggest POS in the games right now? Can we completely move on from bashing LBJ?

I know most pro players are all about “business” but howard is THEE most narcissistic POS in the NBA!! I hope he has to play out the year in Orlando and hears boos whenever he steps on the court. THEN…at the end of the year NOBODY signs this prima donna and he sits out a year crying and then signs for the league minimum!!! He made the bed, let him sleep in it!!!

The Nets are garbage I’m glad the Magic basically told them to shove it.

Why Howard wants to play with the same Nets team that stunk up the league plus Joe Johnson who is complete garbage how Atlanta talked them into get Joe “washed up” Johnson is beyond me.

If Howard starts refusing to cooperate with ALL trades and insists on playing out his contract he WILL get traded and he certainly won’t have any say in where it will be. It will simply be whoever is willing to give up the most for a one year rental.

Look here people. Rob knows Dwight will freak-the-phugkk-out if he thinks he will have to show up at the Amway Center in a Magic uniform and stand in front of 19,000 of the most disgusted fans in pro sports.

As this day draws closer, Dwight will BEG to sign-and-trade to a much longer list of teams. I, for one, would pay All-Star game ticket prices to see Dwight face a bowl full of hate.

Force Brooklyn to get nervous, sign Lopez long term, and there’s no room for Dwight to sign as a free agent next year. Then you can trade him to the Lakers possibly necause LA will know that he would probably re-sign at that point.

Orlando… worst run franchise in the NBA. They got nothing for Shaq……they are going to get less every day that goes by for Howard. I would not ask these guys for stock tips…. they prob still own 100,000 shares of Pan-Am.

Honestly I would be stunned if Dwight Howard didn’t come up with a new list of suitors he would sign long term with . He has to know the Magic bent backwards to make him a Net. They sure didn’t have to . That four team 85 player trade attempt was nuts .

I really think, if you’re Orlando, you’ve got to bite the bullet and just pull the trigger on a trade that allows you to free up cap space and hopefully snag a few picks. You are never going to get equal value in return, but the sooner you can move on from this ordeal, the better.

As is, as long as Howard is in ORL, this mess will consume everything around it, including their season.

What a stupid, stupid move by the Magic. Of course, the offers are underwhelming at best. But with the pressure of being left with nothing at the end of the season mounting those proposed deals are not going to get any better. Bynum is probably not going to change his mind about playing in Orlando. The Nets are going to sign Lopez and the Hump. This leaves the Rockets whose rental clock is ticking… I just don’t get it – take the best trade available and move on already!

Quite honestly I think having to deal with Dwight will be a huge turn off for the better candidates in the race. If I am an assistant and don’t mind the squad i currently work with, I’d sit tight and wait for Dwight to get shipped out before I took another interview with the front office in Orlando.

And Orlando will never get the talent level in exchange for Dwight, but if they can get rid of Dwight, and Hedu’s contracts they’ll save MAJOR money, and get at least 4-5 first round draft picks, plus if they suck that bad (and they will) they’ll get lottery picks as well which will put them in a great position to rebuild.
