J.J. Hickson had his best season as a pro last year in Portland, there were moments you started to see the promise he showed next to LeBron James back in Cleveland.

So the Trail Blazers are going to keep him for another year.

Hickson has agreed to a one-year deal with Portland, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports and the NBC Sports Network. Terms of the deal are not yet known, but ProBasketballDraft (unrelated site) says it is $4 million a year plus incentives.

Hickson averaged 15.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 31 minutes a game last season. He shot 54.3 percent and had a PER of 20.2.

To get him back for a year is a good deal for the Trail Blazers.

One of the most underrated players in the NBA! [that’s signified by the fact that I’m the only one to leave a comment here so far] .. But a very good defensive player, productive offensively, can pass, low turnovers, and just solid all-around. Smart deal and great value move by Portland!

LOL I have to admit my first response was “who”?… but 15 and 9 are you kidding me? Looks like a great re-signing by Portland.

This is actually a really good deal for Portland. Hickson showed some very good skills last year w/ the Blazers. He solidifies the backup PF spot and can play alongside Aldridge at center in smaller lineups against most teams in the league. And at $4 million for a player who still has some upward growth potential along with good size, that’s almost a steal.
