Comments on: Hawks meet with Anthony Randolph as Ferry keeps bargain hunting

I haven’t seen Anthony Randolph play ball. I’m reading the blogs on the subject. With all of that, it sounds like it may be a good pick for the Hawks. Here’s the reason why:

What the coach wants and what the Hawks have currently, are the building blocks of an athletic, physical team that can properly run the Motion Offense. The Motion Offense is for the athletically-gifted, but it doesn’t really require a high degree of basketball acumen in order to play it. It’s “Two-Mississippi” and pass, shoot or attack. You reduce the Isos and you have to have a motor to run it.

What does the Hawks have right now- An athletic, running Center in Al Horford; a freak in Josh Smith and a speedster in Jeff Teague. What did they give up? A pure creative 2 that slows things down in Joe Johnson. See Joe’s good, but he takes his time, analyzes his man and beats him in Isolation. And the same goes for Marvin Williams. He didn’t run the floor as fast as Teague is comfortable with. Horford used to beat Marvin down the floor and he’s the Center!

So Randolph looks like he can run with the best of them. And that fits.

If he wasn’t dumb& lazy there wouldn’t be any bargain hunting no ? Have you seen what those NBA players that are somewhat professional get paid !?

This guy kind of reminds me of Chris Wilcox, who always looked great on the court but never seemed to focus long enough to establish himself as a player……usually a kick- butt coach or veteran is necessary to get such a player to advance, but I don’t know who that would be on the Hawks….

“With Minnesota, he finally made some progress”

Maybe his stats show that but you clearly did not watch him play. Still a great individual talent but horrible team player. He would often times grab a rebound and insist on dribbling it up court even when Rubio would be calling for the ball. Most frustrating thing ever.

Unless Danny Ferry brought with the Witched Witch’s broomstick and then uses a wish to get Randolph a brain.
