Yeah I agree on Sessions. He’s an average point guard in a league with a lot of good point guards so the average is pretty high.

Absolutely, I understand that Brand/Sessions doesn’t carry the same weight as DWill and Howard. It’s not a huge splash the Dallas fans were hoping for, but people keep squawking about Sessions being awful and this and that. Truth is he’s an average starter, and maybe not much else. People have become so hung up on “stars” that they discount good players. And lets be honest, most championships are won with one or two stars and role players who know their role and play within it. Sessions can be that. Not saying he will be an all star, but he’s good.

Well I agree with you on Kidd, but the reality is that Cuban and the Mavs are going to be blog fodder this offseason (right or wrong) because Ramon Sessions + Elton Brand ≠ Dwight Howard + Deron Williams.

As a laker fan I can tell you that Sessions is a nice pg but he better suited to come off of the bench. He struggles when he is expected to carry a team which is why he fell apart in the playoffs. I was hoping La could talk him into coming off of the bench behind Nash. I believe in the right situation he is 6th man of the year material.

I would blow up the Mavs, personally. Amnesty Haywood, find someone to take Marion (there would be takers, he has only two years left now and is a quality 3 defender), and do not sign anyone to more than a one year deal.

Sessions
Boubois (he needs major minutes this year – make or break for him)
some scrub
NOWITZKI
Mahinmi (or another scrub)

Plus their 3 solid, but not spectacular draft picks this year. Although, I definitely would have kept Zeller.

There is a lineup of a lottery team with big time cap room next summer. They need to get multiple draft picks in the next few years (although 2013 draft looks weakest in a long time)

As a Lakers fan I hold no ill will towards Sessions. He was not used properly in LA. Mike Brown didn’t appear to use him to his strengths and he had a miserable shooting playoffs. I would have been happy to have him back, obviously I think we upgraded, but Sessions is a quality player and seems like a nice guy. I hope he lands somewhere he is appreciated and gets the financial security he is looking for.

I’m not sure why people are killing Sessions so much. In all honesty, he’ll produce better than Kidd would have. Sure he had trouble in his first playoff appearance, but that’s pretty understandable considering he was thrown into arguably the highest profile team in the NBA. I think the Mavs would be well served picking him up. He’s not going to light anybody up necessarily, but he’ll be consistent.
