Hibbert isn’t a max contract guy but my Pacers can’t replace him so they will match. Small market teams can’t get free agents so they end up having to over pay these guys. They won’t let him go for nothing…. worst case they will match and then see about moving him in season. Hibbert has more offensive skills than Tyson and less injury issues than Bogut so I would put him ahead of those guys.

There is a big risk locking down big money on over 7 foot centers. Historically, they are prone to injuries. Yao Ming, Greg Oden to name a few.

Not letting him go, that was a typo, but the fact that they are even considering not matching the offer is ridiculous in it’s own.

Wasn’t Hibbert an all-star last year?
A young, 7’2″ center in a time where the NBA doesn’t have many good centers, who by the way has only gotten better these past few years, and they are letting him go? Not to mention the trouble he gave the Heat, a team they should expect to see in the playoffs often, and the fact that they would realistically be a 6-8 seed without him in the dreaded middle-range?
Why in the hell would they let him go?!? Who cares if he might not be a max contract guy, in this situation, you bite the bullet and pay the man because they need him.

Letting Tyson Chandler walk was the worst thing the Mavs and Cuban could of did. The Pacers letting an All Star center go they are then back to the middle of the pack so match the contract, 7 footers that can play don’t pop up at your door often,and he was due a huge pay day anyway

As a Pacer Fan, the Pacers would be fools not to match the offer. With the Bulls on Rose-watch, the Central is wide open. The Pacers can return the entire core from last year plus make a FA signing and still have trade options.

Match the offer or take a big step back (for no reason). Centers are harder to find now, there is little benefit from not matching, and he is a fan favorite.

I diasgree with Wells, the Simons / Pritchard / and Walsh have to realize Hibberts importance and who would they bring in to keep a similar team intact? Kaman… Ha, no.

That’s all fine and good, except for the fact that Aldridge and Randolph aren’t centers. That’s like saying “I like Kobe as a shooting guard, but I’d rather have Durant”.

Roy hibbert is not a max contract kinda guy imo. Very good ..2ndtier group at da Center…ill take Tyson Dwight Bynum Marc gasol bogut over hibbert..max contract???
