Marcus Camby is a big who can block shots in the paint, knock down the midrange jumper and play smart. There is real value in that.

Which is why there are a lot of teams interested in him. He’s narrowed down his list down tow six, reports Chris Haynes of CSNNW.com.

The unrestricted free-agent center, Marcus Camby, has narrowed his choices to the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets, a league source told CSNNW.com.

All of these teams and then some, called Camby’s agent, Rick Kaplan, shortly after July 1 hit, inquiring about his services, but at this point in his career, he’s primarily considering teams in contention for a championship, the same source said.

If it’s a contender, we can toss out the Rockets. Sorry Houston, nothing personal. Camby has played in New York before and he would back up Tyson Chandler and could run some pick and pop with Jeremy Lin and the second unit. In Miami he’s a fantastic sub for Chris Bosh and brings a little more defense if they need it. He’d fit perfectly in San Antonio and Boston as well.

The same report says Camby isn’t visiting with teams, as a 38 year old veteran he know the teams and what he is looking for already.

miami if you want a ring marcus…perfect fit

  2. rocketsbb - Jul 2, 2012 at 10:34 PM

And when he came here he said he wanted to end his career in his hometown Houston playing 3 more years…….

Dallas would be a perfect fit if they land Dwill and amnesty Haywood.

If he comes back to the Knicks he’ll be reunited with his former Denver teammates Melo and JR Smith.

Are you giving reasons why he should not sign with the Knicks?

      • truthhurtstoo - Jul 3, 2012 at 6:56 AM

he’s primarily considering teams in contention for a championship” if true, the knicks should not be in the mix…. they’re going nowhere

  5. thekingdave - Jul 2, 2012 at 11:42 PM

That’s neat, I just read from Feigen in the Houston Chronicle that the Rockets are still his top choice although he’s doing his due diligence with playoff caliber teams. The Knicks as a championship contender? Good one.

    @cacsemo,
The Heat are destined to be one hit wonders. Camby should go to Boston or San Antonio.

    • Miami305 - Jul 3, 2012 at 12:04 AM

How can Miami be a one hit wonder when it has 2 Championships? You are just mad the Lakers suck now.

      • jjordannba - Jul 3, 2012 at 12:53 AM

i’m guessing he’s talking about this specific Heat team then which has 1 championship

      • badintent - Jul 3, 2012 at 3:09 AM

Fakers, snakers, potatoe head makers, Camby will never put up with Kobe Ballhog BS. Camby wants a team run by a professional organization, that ‘s leaves out both L.A. teams and puts Spurs and Heat at the top of his list. Dolan is a moron and Dan Gilbert is a nutjob in a moron’s body.

    • edweird0 - Jul 3, 2012 at 3:25 AM

LOL is that what you tell yourself every night before you go to sleep?

  7. cacsemo - Jul 3, 2012 at 12:05 AM

@lakerluver how are they one hit wonders?with lebron wade and bosh?he should go to the celtics where paul pierce and garnett are in the final years of their careers?the spurs could work but the heat are the clear #1 in the east they lack a true center who could actually do something. in the west you gotta go through the lakers, thunder, and couple other teams who have potential.

Spurs! We need a shot blocker!

  9. 00maltliquor - Jul 3, 2012 at 1:20 AM

How’d I know Miami would be in the mix! Geez, that’s the destination spot for oldies but goodies trying to chase a ring. Spurs could really use him, probably the most.

However I would piss myself if he signed with the Knicks! I’m definatly not a NY fan but close to every year on NBA Live/ NBA 2K since like ’03 I’ve always made a point to draft and/or trade for both of those guys when I’d enter Association mode. I’ve BEASTED having those two guys in my lineup for close to a decade! That would make me sooo happy to see those two together in real life! lol

Go play for the Celtics Mr.Camby.They are play to win again & if they do(and that is the ONLY Reason they play for), your contributions would be very much needed and will be a Big factor. The Celtics NEED you.

    • truthhurtstoo - Jul 3, 2012 at 6:58 AM

keep dreaming, the oldcelts are done. Heat will trounce them again

      • drunkenjunk - Jul 3, 2012 at 8:09 AM

yea, you can get the refs help again.

  11. scobbalobba - Jul 3, 2012 at 4:14 AM

The Knicks are about as close to winning a title as that Romney dude is to being President and Ron Jeremy playing Sylvester Stallone in Rocky VII – It aint happening !!!!

  12. simonwelds - Jul 3, 2012 at 7:35 AM

If its about a trip to the finals and major minutes Miami is the choice, may even start

  13. reesesteel23 - Jul 3, 2012 at 9:42 AM

    This is a no-brainer

  14. louiespoon - Jul 3, 2012 at 3:44 PM

Chicago should be on that list too

  15. orenthalsimpson - Jul 4, 2012 at 1:54 AM

As a celtics fan, I really hope they stay away from Camby. They need to get younger. Boston paid Jermaine Oneal millions of dolllars for two atrocious seasons. I can see the same thing happening with Camby given his age and history of injuries.
