He has all the leverage. Any team besides the Nets will only be able to rent him and he knows this.

I say send him to the Nets for B.Lopez (sign and trade), Marshawn Brooks and a plethora of future 1st rounders to rebuild with. With Howard and Williams together those future 1s will probably be very low, but still have value.

But if Houston wants to rent him, let them be the suckers.

What can Brooklyn offer? A sign and trade for Brook Lopez, Marshawn Brooks and what? 1st round picks until the year 2020?

The Magic would be stupid to trade him to just appease him for that. They’d be better off getting more from a one year renter like Houston or LA.

But maybe Lopez, Brooks and maybe 3 1st rounders will have to be “better than nothing” for the Magic.

I serious doubt LA does anything w/o a commitment because they’ve got the 2nd best center anyway.

But if Houston is desperate enough to send a Lowry, K.Martin, Royce White and Terrence Jones package I say do it. Then you can offer Brooks Lopez an offer sheet that Brooklyn won’t match anyway.

That’s a nice starting 5 for 1 big cry baby.

Trade him to Huston for scola and another and a couple of those 1st rnd rookies. Throw hedo in the deal and a 2nd rnd draft pick or add a 3rd team….
Then Houston can trade him to whoever and can get 3 good players in return.

What an idiot! Why opt in and then ask for a trade? You should have just became a free agent and then signed where you wanted. Who cares if they had traded you to some team for a month or two? Plus, now if the Nets need to trade for him, they need to give up other pieces, making the team weaker. If he would have become a free agent, he could have signed there and they could have kept all of their players.

Because over the last decade and a half, all of the guys that are 6’9″ and above would rather handle the ball in high school and college and turn into SFs or PFs instead. I think there is more perceived glory in today’s game for the 3s and 4s than for what was once considered a true center.

This is so ridiculous. Obviously Dwight (or his people or Nets’ media fanboys) wanted to get this out to put pressure on Orlando to deal him to “the only place he’ll go”, again. My biggest question in this is at what point does Brooklyn decide they’ve had enough & jump off the crazy train? Why would ANY team want to bring this guy on board after seeing him over the last few months? Look what he did to his team & fans that he “loves”. That fact that they played as well while that circus was going on shows without it who knows, maybe they could have reached the ECF? I thought LeBron’s most heinous act wasn’t even the whole “The Decision” thing but how he passive aggressively wrecked The Cavs during his final year there by saying they had a chance to keep him & expecting them to believe him even though any chance of keeping him would’ve involved him saying to a free agent “Hey if you sign here, I’ll come back” & of course how mailed it in during the end of that playoff series. Dwight started off saying he wanted more input on roster movies, then “not asking them to fire Stan Van Gundy” which they eventually did & even replacing the GM that he “had a poor relationship with” and brought in one of the more sought after young front office candidates in the NBA. All of this goes down, almost to a T to what he said it would take to stay in Orlando & now he’s accusing them of blackmailing him (was voodoo too ridiculous of an accusation for him?) into opting out of his opt out option, which was only entirely his choice, even against his agent’s wishes.

If The Nets seriously still want him & get him they’d be sacrificing a lot more than draft picks, players & money to do it. They’d be sacrificing their integrity & respect, which is already pretty thin after they bolted New Jersey & the fans there to go play little brother to The Knicks.

I was watching the draft the other night and was thinking about that very topic you just brought up. I don’t know how we went from a league with so many good centers to barely one or two. Seems like the days of Olajuwan, O’Neal, Parish, Abdul-Jabarr, Ewing, and David Robinson are history. Sadly, some of those match-ups that were so exciting are just a memory. I am not sure why the lack of star powered centers has faded, but I wish they would make a comeback.
