Devastating? He lost his starting job to Bradley.

I’d love to have him on the Celts but they can find another backup.

Rumor has it that he and Rondo don’t get along – so who knows if the Rondo trade rumors play into this.

Im a huge Boston Celtics fan but i only became a fan because of Ray Allen…so im TeamRayAllen, whhy would Ray Allen stay on a team who tries to trade him each year? drop the celtics, Danny tried to trade him for Rip Hamilton and OJ Mayo and Ben Gordon after their title run thats not loyality at all

At least I’ve enjoyed most of them in my lifetime including the 7 in a row vs the Lakers. Let’s see we last won in 2008 and your last was in 2006, until this season. Not much of a past if you ask me (wow…4 yrs). So in the last 4 yrs we each have a title. Enjoy your title. Hopefully, it’ll be LBJ’s only…. EVER. Ray Allen, according to basketball-reference.com has earned more than $178 million in salary over his career. The amount of the contract means nothing to him. He turns 37 though in just a few days. Regardless of his physical condition, how much more can his body withstand? Then again, if he’s nothing more than a kick-it-out-to-spot-up-shooter, maybe he doesn’t need to do much more. Except of course, he does need to play at least some defense. Can’t see him as a “hot commodity” though. Not with the quantity and quality of younger players available.

Cannot stand the Celtics as a team but man I have always loved this man, class act and deserved that shooting title even if he got in on the C’s. Him and Doc are pure class and in it for love of basketball, which is what it all should be about. Not Carmelo or Dwight, that’s true sell out and unbelievably selfish at best. Any fan of the game itself doesn’t mind this because he’s doing it for what it’s all about, basketball and winning. Loyalty in the NBA doesn’t exist, it’s a business and the owner will sell them out or put nothing around them in a heartbeat(LeBron), as the C’s likely will blow up the team in at most a year. Why would he stay? Name a legitimate reason outside money when these aging dudes are going to get sent all over the country first sign of failure. Seeing great basketball is what it’s all about and him on Miami playing against the Thunder for a couple years will be basketball heaven. Disclaimer: I am a Knick fan and hate both of the teams involved, C’s and Heat. Just appreciate basketball, lakers celtics, magic bird, Jordan dispatching every allstar of his time, Ewing Miller, Kobe Duncan(although this is a lil stretch as it never evolved), we have the chance to see the next with LeBron and Durant where Kobe LeBron never materialized, it’s history, LeBron is too. Get used to it and love it as a fan because Ray Ray on heat will make it that much more entertaining. If your a basketball fan, you can’t hate seeing possible history unfolding before your eyes. Go Knicks, maybe, in a decade, hopefully Dolan Crokes or sells sooner.

The only way I can see that happening is if Charlotte is the only other team in the bidding. Scratch that, Ray would just retire in that scenario. There is no way I see that happening.

Why are people saying Ray Allen lost his starting spot to Avery Bradley ? I recall, it is the coach’s prerogative to play the best person at any time during a game. Ray Allen was probably hurting then but being a commited player, he probably just played with the injury thinking it will heal in time without knowing the severity of the injury. It makes me wonder how the Celtics training staff and medical team diagnosed and treated the bone spurs injury earlier on.

Many people will say that because you are paid millions, you just play thru the injury. Not always the case. Sometimes, you have to step aside for the good of the team, heal and be always on the ready when called in to play. Maybe Ray Allen should think it through before jumping to any team, there is no guarantee the Miami Heat will repeat.

The thing about Lebron is that he doesnt gamble, so he doesnt pick up unneccessary fouls! Most common fouls are due to mismatches and gambling on plays. By gambling I mean trying for steals our blocked shots. Since Lebron is 6’8″ with speed and quickness he doesnt have to. Him not aquring fouls fouls is because he is smart and a freak athelete. He usely plays off of anybody he is guarding and then challenges the shot. If a guy gets passed him he usually lets them go. He is not as aggressive as Cooper, Jordan, Pippen, etc

But anyway, I’m not what you would call a Kurt hater. I come to this site daily and actually enjoy almost all of his stories. Who really knows where he was trying to go with that. The outside shooting is what gave Miami a chance in the first 3 wins but the games were still really close. Game 5 was the only blowout when Miami was raining 3′s like no tomorrow.

Maybe, but when LBJ gets a total of 5 fouls in 4 games vs Boston in Miami and 5 fouls in 3 games vs the Thunder in Miami (I smell home-cooking refs) for a total of 10 fouls in 7 home games then he is the almighty, greatest defender in the history of the sport for all-time and into the future. In all the home games he never had more than 2 fouls ever, and had 1, 1, and 0 in 3 of those 7 games. Are you f’in kidding me????

I’ve watched NBA Finals since I was 8 yrs old and am now 58; so in all those series LBJ had the greatest non-fouling effort EVER. I mean how does anyone playing 40 mins a game get only 2 foul calls in 3 games???…all at home of course unless he’s getting preferential treatment??? I was a Heat fan until LBJ showed up and poisoned Wade and the Heat. No doubting his talent, but he ain’t that good on defense to get those calls. Nobody is, not even MJ, Michael Cooper, or Bill Russell or ANY of the great defenders. Good luck getting 4, 5, 6, 7, etc. Go Cs…

When you shoot over 50% percent from 3 with 25+ attempts, that’s going to be hard to overcome and force an additional game. I interpreted it as, “of course there was no game 6 BECAUSE they got hot from outside the arc.” But my humor tends to be indirect and subtle, so I would tend to interpret it that way.

Ray Allen was brought in by the Celtics as a mercenary. He wasn’t drafted by the Celtics. He was drafted by the Sonics and also played a long time for the Bucks (or was he drafted by the Bucks and played for a long time in Seattle?) Either way, this isn’t exactly Babe Ruth going to the Yankees. It isn’t even Irving Fryar going to the Dolphins. It’s more like Terrell Buckley signing with the Patriots.
